We stayed in Demoiselle shepherd’s hut in early July. The area is so peaceful and private and the hut had everything you would need. The welcome basket was a lovely touch. On the first day we walked up Simonside Hills (although had to abandon because of the wind) and on the second day walked 20 minutes into Thropton and got the bus into Rothbury. Emma and Tim are great hosts and our stay was faultless.

Rushed welcome after a 20h journey however in all fairness it was dinnertime and the restaurant was packed. Within 5 minutes, we were brought to the 2 bedroom unit, given a breakfast card to fill out for the next morning and left to ourselves to ohhh and ahhh at the coziness and cleanliness of all of the spaces within. Plush white bedding and pillows. Soft thick bath towels. Coffee maker with lots of choices. Cozy welcoming living area with large windows and view to the small park area across the street. Everything worked as it should and we had no issues at all. The location is second to none. A few steps away from the castle and the pretty town shops yet quiet and peaceful. We were there for 2 nights and had all of our meals at their gorgeous welcoming restaurant. Every single meal was ordered quickly, brought to us quickly and served with a friendly smile and a bit of a chat. And the food was so good! … I mean, really really delicious and surprisingly fair priced. I cannot recommend them enough, for lodging and food and location. The rest of our trip lodgings and meals were constantly compared to Dirty Bottles and hands down, nowhere came close even though of all of our hotels stays, this was by far the lowest priced.

Cannot best the location!!!! Trolley push out of the doors and into the hotel ( or vice versa). No worry about taxi or transfer. Restaurant OK but suffers from the same ailment of so many…. Blinking awful coffee!!!! Also those awful mugs …. I have said before….. I have taken to bringing my own decent mug to drink out of. I ate in the bar last time - similar menu ( same prices) but no booking of a table required. Just got to put up with TV with constant noise or sport…… They let me leave my luggage while I drop off or pick up a hire car…. About 10 minutes walk away. Always my first choice.

Stayed overnight as my hubby had an appointment, we took our furbaby with us. We arrived early abd as I was concerned about the parking timescales, we went to query at reception. We were met by Katy and Kelly who were really helpful. As our room was ready, they checked us in early. They were really friendly and customer care was excellent. Our room was clean and well aired. Yes there was some road noise, but we anticipated worse as the holtel is located next to a busy main road and is on the flight path into Newcastle airport, however, tye windows blocked out most of the noise. If staying here, go with an open mind we did and were pleasantly surprised

Das Hotel ist zwar groß und beschäftigt, aber es war ein angenehmer, entspannender Aufenthalt. Die Lage ist etwas entfernt, wenn Sie kein Auto haben, aber das Personal arrangierte gute lokale Taxis und geführt uns zum nächsten Metro Station.Die Zimmer sind guten Grundstandard, Der Gesundheitsclub und der Pool sind ausgezeichnet und die Bar-Lounge hat eine gut organisierte Bar und viele TV-Screens zu sehen Sport, einschließlich einer schönen Seite mit einem großen TV-Screen eingerichtet wie ein Mini-Cinema.Der einzige Moan war das Frühstück - das gesäumte Ei war sehr wasserig, Die gefrierten Eier waren Öl - die Baconsaws und Beeren waren ok, aber die Kartoffeln sahen uns nichts an. Die Krusten und Toast waren aber gut, und die Kaffeemaschine hat gute Arbeit geleistet - können wir nächstes Mal eine größere Fruchtsorte haben, bitte? Insgesamt empfehle ich das Dorf als angenehm, erschwinglich zu bleiben mit ausgezeichneten Einrichtungen. Wir kommen rasch zurück, wenn wir durch Newcastle.

Hotel very nice room clean and comfortable, Stephen ans Ali were very helpful and service at meal times was very good. All the staff were helpful and gave us good advice for places to visit, our friend recommended the hotel to us and we will be doing the same to our friends. We give it a 5 Stars rating.
