Hotel de La Soledad

The hotel is beautiful, love the architecture. The food is good, the views are great. The staff is friendly and caring. It’s located in a great area right in downtown. There’s great restaurants around and a lot of transportation near by or around the corner.

Peace, charm,comfort and tranquility are words that describe this little haven. One might choose this for its location smack dab in the heart of the historic district, but one is immedialely captivated by the charm of this hotel. The moment you walk into this hotel, you are greeted by not only the wonderful staff, but the beauty of the patio garden. Any stress that you brought with you just washes away. The nooks and crannies on the ground floor as well as the second floor invite you to sit a spell and relax. The rooms were charming and very comfortable; we had a room with a window facing the pedestrian street, but there was no noise at all. The restaurant is exquisite at night, with great food and the patio all lit up!

This is one of the most beautiful hotels I have ever visited. It is an old stone convent, beautifully restored. If you don't stay here, you should at least come and have a meal or drinik or just view the beautiful open air courtyard. Our room was modern and huge, with 20 foot ceilings and stone walls. The bathroom was large and modern. I would give this hotel 5 or more stars except for a few issues. The thermostat was in English (temp in celsius), but it was still difficult to operate. Given the stone walls, there are few electrical outlets. This was not a problem for us, but would be with more than two people. The closet was huge, but there wasn't much drawer space. On one of the two nights there was a bad smell in the room, possibly emanating from the shower drain.

Some of the best customer service you will find. From the valet at the front entrance, to the front desk, to the restaurant to the house cleaning crew. Everyone was great. Our host at meals, David, was very friendly and informative about the food and drink options. Everyone at this hotel cares about making your stay perfect. The hotel is just 1/2 a block off the main plaza and walking distance to lots of restaurants and shops. The valet parking makes getting in and out simple. Highly recommend this hotel for your stay.

My wife and I have stayed here 3 times since 2019 and we have immensely enjoyed each stay. When you walk through the front gates and enter the courtyard it puts a smile on our faces because it is just so beautiful here. The rooms are very elegant and the staff are so friendly and helpful. Our favorite server is David. He makes you feel welcome especially when he knew I speak very little Spanish so he told me he understood English and also spoke very good english.

This is a centrally located hotel near the main plaza and cathedral. Check in was easy. The hotel is full service and very pretty. The rooms are comfortable with a comfortable bed and pillows. I would stay here again.

World class, elegant, with comfortable beds, high thread count sheets and the most beautiful bathroom on earth. Breakfast was beautiful, and eating in such an enchanting dining room makes one feel a bit like royalty. But what guests really want to know about Hotel Soledad, is how lovely their customer service is. On tour, one of my guests became very ill. The hotel staff responded immediately, with extra towels - and when things didn’t improve, called a doctor to come in the middle of the night. By morning, the guest was still very ill, and it became evident that she needed to be hospitalized. The hotel was so gracious in handling all details, having the room cleaned, and assuring my guest and her friend that they were in safe hands. The hotel staff attended the room immediately, and moved the luggage into a new room, for my other guest (her friend who stayed to help her). They also called the ambulance and sent the guest to the best hospital in Morelia, knowing she would be checked in immediately without any fuss or complicated details. I was called to the front desk, as the tour leader, and the managers phoned to assure me that my guests were in excellent hands, and that if they needed anything, they shouldn’t hesitate to ask. The manager, Francisco, asked for the contact info for the sick guest and her friend, and reached out to offer assistance. This kind of attention to care was unexpected, but so appreciated. As I had other guests on my tour, we had to depart that day, and it was a huge relief to know that these two guests were very well taken care of. Thankfully, they both caught-up with our group, and reported such gratitude that we had been at such a professional and classy hotel. Thank you to all of the staff of Hotel Soledad, especially Francisco, the front desk and housekeepers who made sure my guests were comfortable during such a stressful time.

First, let me start this review by saying that this is truly a world-class hotel and one of the best in Mexico. The owners have done an amazing job of renovating this property, the staff is wonderful and we really enjoyed coming to the property, once again, during the Christmas season and seeing the beautiful and elaborate Christmas decorations. The food and service in the restaurant is absolutely excellent and we would put this on par with a top historical hotel in Europe. Now, Let’s discuss the one big error that is not in the hands of the management team. If you use *******, that charge is not to be added to the hotel bill. ******* specifically tells hotel owners the following: “******* or other similar OTAs send a reservation to your property management system, ******* will subtract beforehand the commission amount from your nightly rate, so that if the rate on your own website is at $100 a night, and the rate on the reservation is only $70 a night, a 30% commission rate applies. The commission is not to be borne by customers.” I tried to book directly with the hotel; however, they did not reply to seven or eight email messages and that, in itself, is another problem. Owners, you’re doing yourself a disservice to run such a fine luxury establishment and blow it on this one issue which I took up with the manager on duty and reception and he, very politely and professionally, told me that his hands were tied by you, the owners. Please fix this and allow us to give you the five stars you deserve!

Exceptional property right off the main plaza. Incredible service from the moment you exit your car. Comfortable, large clean rooms, incredible setting around a courtyard with singing birds and beautiful fauna. Breakfast was amazing in the courtyard garden. Will never stay anywhere else when in Morelia.
