Trail Lake Lodge

We stopped here for an overnight on a recent visit to Alaska. The room was basic, nothing fancy. There was a sofa and an extra bed, so we had room for our stuff. Bedding was clean. We had good meals in the restaurant, and staff were very pleasant.

A local review! We love this place and these people. This is Alaska. It's not fancy but it's warm and inviting. Good drinks. Good company. Simple food. It's worth the stop and always has lots of local character.

The location worked wonderful for our group of 3. We drove from Anchorage (airport) with many stops along the way. We arrived after hours to find a self check in system that was absolutely no hassle. The view of the lake is amazing. I had made note of this place on a previous trip as it was just too beautiful to drive by and keep going but that trip we didn't have reservations. On this trip we stayed 3 nights. We used it as a base to go hiking in Whittier , white water rafting on day 2, and floating the Kenai River on day 3. The rooms are small but equipped better than some expensive hotels. Think, microwave sitting on top of mini-fridge, next to sink with coffee pot. We didn't need much more as our days were spent outside and the room was for sleeping. The beds are not plush but they are comfortable. We had coffee in the room and would grab a breakfast burrito from the restaurant on our way out. We never made it back in time to have dinner at the restaurant but we were told by other guests it was very good. We had a hot shower each night with plenty of linens. It was all we needed.

I was given a room in the motel across from the restaurant. The room was extremely dirty, covered with dust and when I pulled out one of the beds to check under it you could tell it had not been vacuumed under there in a long time. Also apparently the vacuum cleaner did not get up next to the wall as there was a coat of dust all around the carpeting next to the mop board. The top of the shelves were very dirty also. And in between the dresser and the wall had not been vacuumed in a long time. I went over to the restaurant and ordered a burger which was supposed to be cooked medium and it was cooked well done. I asked for the manager and an assistant came out and I showed her pictures of the room that I had taken and she apologized and said she would talk to the manager. After paying 140 bucks for the room he said he would give me a $30 discount which I still have not seen. I would recommend anyone to keep driving into Seward to find a better place .

Very nice location and views, however, this place is not for everyone. If you are looking for a place with amenities this is not it. There is a restaurant and bar below some of the rooms and is used by locals. Remember during the summer the sun does not set until around midnight and the locals seem to enjoy the nights. Located about 30 from Seward. Overall it was a nice place just don't expect the Hilton..

We were placed in an annex so short walk to the lodge. Rooms in the lodge are above the bar/ restaurant. There is a little fudge shop a short walk down the road with a talking moose and an under stocked grocery across the road. About 30 miles from Seward, a cute town to visit with a great aquarium and views. The room (#15) has a spacious walk in shower and was very clean. We had a queen size bed, dresser, closet. We did NOT have a refrigerator, iron, hair dryer, or coffee pot. The lodge had complimentary coffee and hot chocolate but the waitress was too busy to accommodate us at the evening shift so we waited a while then finally left. The morning waitress was a gem and explained a delay in coffee due to a breaker being flipped.

My husband and I stayed here for one night. We had a cruise in Seward early in the morning and Moose Pass is only 30 minutes away. You check in at the restaurant and the motel is across the street. The bathroom was spacious. The room had no TV and no bedside tables. The heating system rattled and it was difficult to figure out how it worked. A pretty lake with a mountain view is across the street.

Stopped at this place after a whale watching tour in Seward and it was the perfect pit stop for us. Unique and fun menu that offers a lot of variety. Great burgers and also the salmon dip was delicious. But the best was the homemade apple pie... Good Gosh!!! I'm so glad our awesome waitress recommended it.

This is a place to sleep and move on, this is not a place to hang out and be comfortable. They have a cute little phrase that says "no white glove treatment" but that's code for, no treatment whatsoever. There's not a cup to drink from or a hair dryer... just the basics. It was clean enough but the bed was hard. But the real reason for my poor rating is - why in the world would you hang a TV on the wall, connect it to a DirecTV box, and put the remote out as if the guest had access to television? Because when you turn it on it is not connected to their ethernet or wifi. I spent quite a bit of time trying to make it work as it was cold and rainy unexpectedly and a movie would have been nice. I don't need a TV but I don't need you to tease me with a TV. Also, the mini fridge froze my pickle but who knew.. I like pickle sickle.
