We attempted to stay at the Sure Stay in Montgomery, AL last night, May 20. When we entered the “hotel” we saw the first signs of uncleanlinesses: giant stains on the carpets and clumps of dirt on the stairs. The room had a broken shower head, dirty bedsheets, brown, gritty water coming from the bathroom sink, poop on the toilet paper, stains on the walls and floors, dirt on the surfaces, missing plug covers, plastic over the smoke detector. We grabbed our things to check out immediately and get a full refund, but the desk clerk that we just spoke to at check in, wasn’t there. We called the hotel multiple times, rang the bell, left a voicemail. After 15 minutes of attempting to check back out, we left and went somewhere else. This morning, May 21, we came back to find a sign in the window saying, “making rounds be back later.” We called the hotel again, walked the grounds, checked the inside of the hotel, no one was there. You can see the security monitors from the check in window, nothing was moving. We called Best Western directly and were told to call back at 9 am. We called numbers that were stuck between the glass and the counter of the check in window. After 15 minutes we finally got a hold of someone who told us they would “be there” in 10 minutes. As in, they came from home?? No one is actually at the hotel 24/7?? We waited another 20 minutes and no one showed up. When we finally got to talk to someone, we were given excuses and told there is no refunds policy. We took pictures of everything. After threatening to report the hotel to the health department we were told we would receive a full refund. We had to ask for a print out of our bill, otherwise we wouldn’t have gotten anything.
