Locanda A Cà du Gigante

We changed to this hotel from one our travel agent picked originally because it was closer to the center of town. The reception when we arrived was most gracious; we were offered water after our journey. Since we had requested a room with a sea view, we were escorted to a different location and the room was on the third floor. It was the room pictured with this review. The nice surprise was the covered balcony surrounded by beautiful flowers. Breakfast was served in the main building with the same gracious hospitality. Management was very welcoming, helpful, and accommodating. This hotel is located 10 minutes walking distance from the train station.

Booked this hotel based on its proximity to the beach, we had the “annex” room and I found it difficult to get much information about this, when we arrived we realised why!!! The annex is a converted garage 500m up the road from the hotel, the mezzanine gets so hot that we had to have the AC on freezing for my girls to sleep up there while we froze on the ground floor, not ideal. If I’d know this was the case with the room being so far away I wouldn’t have chosen this property, disappointed to say the least!

We arrive to the hotel after a long day of travel. We mistakenly booked the apartment instead staying in the hotel. After we checked in and was walking up the street through a dark alley with the host, we were told that the AC was not working. We asked if we could move to the main building and nothing was available but they could bring a fan. Then we went to dinner and got back to our room after 10 pm. Found out that there was no hot water when I got into shower. The next morning they sent the cleaning lady to fix the hot water. So after a long day of sightseeing, my husband gets in to shower, when he is finished I get in and the hot water decides not to work. We had no hot water the next morning again. Do not waste your money staying in the apartment of this hotel.

Charming hotel off the beaten path, very well maintained and a staff that really knows what a traveler needs. Breakfast included was just right amount. A bit far off from the train station, like 10 min. walk however very easy to find. It's location ideal, quiet street, and restaurants about 10 min. walk away. Room was a bit tight, not advisable with 2 full size suitcase, we had 2 small ones just small enough for the corner.

Good hotel to stay, The front desk is very helpful giving us directions to all hiking destinations in Cinque Terre, 5 minutes walk from Monterosso Al Mare train station, Good free breakfast, I like the room that we stayed, bed is comfortable, good water shower pressure. Overall I highly recommend this hotel.

Just a minute walk to get to beach and town - perfectly located. No views, but we knew that. Claudia did the booking and was helpful. Lovely breakfast included. Was able to fill my water bottle with ice for the long day of hiking. Wish breakfast started a little earlier so we could get on the hike sooner. Definitely recommend!

What a wonderful 4 nights at the quaint Locanda du gigantic Hotel. We stayed in the separate building in a wonderful room with private balcony overlooking the sea (in the distance). I loved sipping coffee on the balcony in the morning listening to the sounds of the birds. It's a very peaceful area. Our room was very nice, wifi good. There is a coffee station just outside the room, was a nice touch, as the main restaurant for breakfast in in the hotel (is about a 5 minute walk away). We loved our stay, and would stay here again. Thank you!

This is a beautiful little place to stay. The staff are so helpful and friendly and make you feel so welcome. We discovered a free beach right under neath the Giant which wasn’t too busy for swimming and sunbathing. Just a stroll to old Monterosso town such a beautiful place to visit.

We stayed 4 nights at this Locanda to explore Cinque Terre. The location is incredibly convenient, 5min walk from the train station. We spent the first night in the Carmeti suite to then move to the Gigante suite (this was agreed upon booking as the second room wasn't available for our first night). The staff made the move very smooth and both rooms were beautiful and very clean. The suites are in a separate building 2min from the main building and have stairs, but this is clearly explained on the website and upon reservation. We did not have any problem with this, location remains great. The bed was really comfortable (I always have issues with too soft mattresses, this one was just right), nice and well equipped bathroom with great water pressure. In the Gigante suite we enjoyed a spacious balcony with sea view. It was really pleasant to wake up with the birds singing every morning, and relax with a drink and a book on the balcony in the evenings. They also offer free beach towels if needed. Breakfast was delicious, it's a buffet served in a lovely room next to a cosy garden, offering a lot of locally sourced products like cheeses, cakes, croissants, honey, jam and savoury pies. Claudia is delightful and was incredibly friendly and professional since the start. I had to change my reservation dates and she was very responsive and helpful with all my questions before arrival. She welcomed us every morning with a smile for breakfast and was kind enough to accommodate a slightly early breakfast time on our last day as we had an early train. If I have to find a flaw, it is simply that there are no phones in the rooms, in spite of a note stating that you can call reception by dialling 9. But it didn't really represent an issue for us. Overall an excellent experience, I'd highly recommend this Locanda and I was actually sad to leave this morning!
