Y Motels Gympie

This room was a disgrace. There were food crumbs on one of the beds, a huge hole in the wall and torn carpet. The door to the room didn’t lock properly, and blew open in the middle of the night. Luckily I had engaged the chain lock. Easily one of the worst rooms I have ever stayed in.

What can I say. This motel is well below standard of what the motoring public can expect. When we arrived there was a used ash tray right outside our room, I picket it up to empty it and as I did the owner came past, I asked her where I could empty it and she replied "was it in the room", I said that it was not that it was right out side our door and that it was smelling the room out, she replied " just leave it there, it's not hurting anybody". We found the refurbished room to be quite nicely done, water pressure in the shower was great and the beds comfortable. The down side is as follows:- 1. The bathroom door lock stayed retracted and unable to lock the door for privacy. 2. The window had to be forced open as it was jammed and only a flimsy after market look holding it closed against forced entry. 3. There wasn't an exhaust fan in the bathroom area to remove steam from the shower or bad odours from the toilet use. 4. The shower screen was bolted to the wall and floor area but was very wobbly, should a person slip in the shower and end up pushing or reaching for the shower screen for support, the person and screen would end up on the floor with broken glass all around or even cut and bleeding. 5. The mat in the main area had rolled up corners and is a trap for people that may trip on them, fall and injure themselves.

We booked online at last minute but didnt receive a confirmation so turned up anyway. Was told no room available. When we explained we had booked online they apologised & said they did have our booking & had just confirmed. As we stood there our confirmation came through. Reception was polite & the room clean. Everything we needed in room. Microwave, kettle, toaster, crockery & cutlery. Good size parking outside unit. Water in shower hard to adjust & very noisy.
