Our holiday started during a period of heavy rain and general flooding in the area. We arrived late evening, after a challenging journey, and found the superior room that we had booked to have a thoroughly wed bed and mattress because the hotel roof had leaked. The only room available was small with twin beds and very inadequate bathroom facilities for an older couple. However we were so tired we accepted the beds and repacked our cases in the morning to move back to the superior room when the bedding and mattresses had been replaced. On check out, the receptionist could not offer Best Western points or financial settlement to reflect the fact that we did not get what we had paid for, or that that breakfast was accompanied by hammering and music from renovation taking place. Any reflection on customer experience apparently required a conversation with a manager before recognising shortfall. That led to no action, which was disappointing and demeaned our stay.
