College Hill House

Absolutely Perfect ! Quick overnight stay and unfortunately had to leave early in the morning so missed the Special Breakfast everyone is talking about! Thank you again Eileen for your hospitality, we all had a wonderful stay and hopefully will visit again when not working The Gardens are wonderful Rooms Crisp & Clean Tea & Coffee in the rooms & homemade shortbread…… everything you need Thanks again for having us Tony/Pete/Wiz

5 star experience and hospitality. Elieen and Bruce take care of you from the moment you pull up to their long driveway, surrounding by trees and prestige landscaping. Warm welcome, very clean room, and very comfortable bed. Full Irish breakfast available in the morning with fresh fruits, coffee and tea, homemade marmalade. Elieen helped us book several sold out tours last minute. Provided us with local things to see and Gave us a detailed map of the area made by her daughter. The grounds are beautiful. My wife and I can’t say enough good things about the hospitality.

Awful all around. I cannot believe the good reviews. We arrived for a wedding that was at Slane Castle. My wife was a bridesmaid and so we got there a little bit before check in just to drop off our stuff real quick and head over to the castle. The main lady was super rude to us and other wedding guests and refused to let us in. Luckily, the bride showed up to drop off wedding bags for her guests, so the cranky lady was forced to let us in. We had planned to just drop our stuff out and get out of her way until check in....but the rooms were all ready! Why be rude if the rooms were ready anyway? The rooms smelled like sewage coming from the bathroom. They obviously knew this because there was a lit candle in the bathroom. The heat wasn't working at one point and our room was an icebox. No apology, no nothing. The location is HORRIBLE. Middle of nowhere. Not walkable to anywhere, nowhere to get food anywhere close. I called 10 cabs that the lady had on a list, none were available. The morning of the wedding, my wife had to leave early to get to Slane Castle to get ready with the bride. Her friend was already at breakfast so my wife asked her friend to get coffee poured so it could cool down before my wife got down there. The head witchy lady refused to pour the coffee for my wife until she got to the breakfast table, so my wife's friend had her husband pretend like the coffee was for him so my wife did not have to wait until her piping hot would cool down to drink it. The beds were small and uncomfortable, we could feel the springs in our backs. And then on our way out, rushing to the airport the last morning, the lady tells us that the credit card machine was down and wanted us to pay cash. Not our fault the machine was down. Did not offer us any breakfast for the road. Then without contacting us, charged our card around $30 more than we owed. Overall a terrible, unwelcoming experience. Nothing 5 star about it or even close. The owner lady knows NOTHING about hospitality. Just awful place.

I wish that I discovered this place 10 years ago so i could have returned winter spring summer and fall every year (time permitting) Incredible hosts Grounds that make your knees weak A knot garden that blew me away Breakfast to die for. Beautiful and historical part of Ireland

My husband and I were on the Boyne Valley garden trail and we spotted Colllege Hill House and Gardens on the map. We booked immediately and I'm so glad we did! Stunning house, decor, rooms, garden and ambience is exquisite! We loved our stay in the Lavender room...in fact my husband is obsessed with growing it...we have over 50 Lavender plants in our own garden! The host was amazing...so knowledgeable about everything...breakfast was on aanother level! Home-made yogurt and berry compote...chef's kiss! We hope to return again! Go raibh maith agat.

This gem of tranquillity is hidden away in the Meath countryside, yet only a 10 minute drive from the town of Slane. The house itself is beautifully appointed and set amid colourful gardens. Accommodation is separate from the main house which means guests can come and go as they please. Our hosts could not have been more welcoming and accommodating. If for some reason you're not a fan of tranquillity, then it’s worth a stay just for the breakfast. What a delightful array of home made and local produce. Highly recommended.

Everything about College Hill House was delightful - the entrance, the gardens, the bedroom, the bed, the appointments, the bathroom, the lovely biscuits at my bedside every night. The dining room, the art work and the table were gorgeous! And the breakfast-oh my how unique, beautifully presented and delicious. Best of all, Eileen and Bruce went above and beyond to make sure my stay was lovely. Thank you.

A gem of a house We visited Slane in historic Boyne Valley as part of a family trip. Our stay at College Hill House was a great experience. So much to do in Slane area. Hosts Eileen and Bruce were welcoming and made us all feel a wee bit part of the family. Eileen is a regal, attentive hostess. Her knowledge of the local area was extremely helpful to our search for family history. Bruce is an energetic, charismatic host who got dinner reservations for our party of 6 and entertained our group with stories and local history. ( It is hard to put into words all of their hospitality). The house: an historic home and one time parochial school is a beautiful experience. We stayed in Primrose room while parents stayed in old stone cottage. Primrose was a large comfortable room with water, coffee and tea in room. The house is surrounded by gardens planted by Eileen and Bruce so flowers and herbs come fresh from gardens. If you love gardens this is for you. Breakfast is in an elegant but comfortable setting. Food is both hot and cold cereals. Of course you should order the full Irish but there are other options for those who want lighter fare. The 2 mornings we ate were delightful. Breads are fresh from the kitchen. Eggs are from chickens on site and meats are from local farmers. True farm to table. Try to eat just one serving of yogurt with fresh berry compote and not want more. So overall a winning experience and I think the place to stay if visiting Boyne Valley and all its history. Stayed this weekend for a family wedding. Can only describe everything from the accommodation to the hospitality as perfect. Eileen was friendly and accommodating. Plus there are the most beautiful gardens to wander in.
