"This is a historically important location in Matheran.  Ratheesh and his business partner were so welcoming and helpful and the accommodation is so full of character. For a truly “green” and unique stay in a totally unique location, the Verandah in the Forest is absolutely a must. This is undoubtedly the place to stay in Matheran if you can get a room - would suggest booking early so as not to miss the chance to stay here - and is so much more than a hotel. Food was superb and because of the size and layout, never seemed busy. Quiet and relaxing stay.  As there’s no phone signal in Matheran Hill Station I’d suggest contacting Ratheesh before making the ascent to the hill station for location instructions. There is wi-fi at the Verandah in the Forest. "

The Byke Heritage - Pan India Pure Veg Hotel Chain

"The Byke Heritage at Matheran is situated nearly at the end of the main M.G. Road. It is recognized as the largest hotel property in Matheran and features the oldest bungalow in the area, constructed by Matheran's founder, Mr. Hugh Malet. The hotel is a 10-15 minute walk from Matheran station, so I recommend hiring a porter or coolie to assist with your luggage. Additionally, it is advised to buy any necessary groceries from the market itself, as there are not many shops close to the hotel. Guests should note that the hotel is situated on a hilly slope and involves walking many steps; therefore, it may not be suitable for senior citizens or those with difficulty walking on slopes. While the property holds a rich heritage, the rooms are old and the quality of food served in the restaurant is average or below average. Mobile network is poor here but a good Wifi connection is provided. I feel there is plenty of scope for improvement, specifically regarding the quality of rooms and the dining experience. Despite its history, no one at the hotel provided a brief historical background during our stay. The highlight for families is the variety of amenities for children, including badminton, cricket, indoor games, and an adventure park for older kids, alongside outdoor play equipment for younger ones. The hotel also hosts engaging activities such as: * Rain dance * A swimming pool for adults and another for children with water slides * A disco * Karaoke nights with Gauri, who was a wonderful entertainer and a highlight of our trip. The overall experience at the hotel is quite average, but the extensive activities keep children busy. When you consider their pricing, the experience feels much better; it provides excellent value for money for the price they charge. If you are traveling in a large group, this is a good option as it provides solid entertainment. However, you can find a better quality experience and much better food at Usha Ascot, which is located directly opposite this hotel. Like any other location in Matheran, this hotel has many monkeys which come with their own set of challenges."

"Kumar Plaza ist das beste Resort jemals in ganz Matheran. Es ist zentral in der Nähe des Marktes und andere wichtige Punkte in der Nähe zu besuchen. Herr Dinesh Wadhwani, Eigentümer eines großen Gastgebers und eines sehr ödmlichen Mannes. Das Essen im Restaurant ist eines der besten, die ich jemals hatte. Die Buffet-Optionen für Frühstück, Mittagessen und Abendessen sind aufgeschlagen und jeden Tag gibt es verschiedene Menüs. Das ist der Ort, an dem ich in meinem Leben mindestens 10 Mal hier gewesen bin. Das Personal ist wirklich höflich, hilfreich und sehr freundlich und kooperativ. Es gibt verschiedene Aktivitäten, die passieren wie Karoeke-Song, DJ, Magie- und Feuershow, Hausie, Spiele usw., die die Gäste niemals während ihres Aufenthalts langweilen. Würde wirklich empfehlen, alle zu kommen und Kumar Plaza einmal besuchen."
