Courtyard St. Louis Westport Plaza

I've been here a couple of times before over the past two years and even though the hotel is older, it is maintained well and I like the older style Courtyards which have the balcony's overlooking the "courtyard". It is quiet and laid back here on the weekends too.

A typical Courtyard. We were checked in by two very friendly front desk ladies who got us going quickly and with a smile. Our room was comfortable, with good pillows. We slept well. Wi-Fi connected easily the next morning. Our only issue was that only two bath towels were provided. My wife and I are both bigger people, so we need more towels. Overall, we'd come back.

I checked in Saturday August 19. The woman who checked me in had NO personality, which is a rarity for Marriott. She talked in a monotone and never smiled. At times I felt she was lecturing me. I have the app and it would not let me do a digital check in. When I asked about it, she insisted that they had to see me at the front desk and get my ID to know it was me. I told her I stay at Hilton all the time and they allow digital check in to bypass the desk. It made no difference and she kept repeating her stance in a monotone. Other staff stood by without saying anything. Then, she was unable to give me a digital key, claiming they had a ticket in with Marriott for quite some time to fix their system. She enlisted help from others who repeated the same information, although with a little more personality. The Courtyards do not offer free breakfast, which I know, and a cup of fruit was $9. That's a little steep for a small piece of a breakfast. I had brought protein bars, etc. to have a breakfast. The room was clean but showing wear on the furniture and walls. The balcony with the chair overlooking the courtyard was dirty and the door to get to it was hard to open. I was on a pleasure trip so had called before check in and asked for an extra hour on checkout. Supposedly I had it, but when I returned to my room past the normal checkout time I was unable to get in to retrieve my suitcases. They sent someone up with a temporary card since the digital keys were still not working. All in all it was not an experience I would expect from a Marriott and I would not stay here again.

I stayed here with a friend last month. I am Titanium with Marriott and used to the non recognition I get at Courtyard branded hotels. At breakfast is where I would point out their biggest deficiency and outrageous prices for the overly simple breakfast items. Four four pieces of really bad french toast with one (1) cut up strawberry and a container of processed syrup for $12 or $13. Cmon Marriott, do you think this is good business?

Big Bear Tournaments gave us this hotel as one of our choices. The hotel is a little worn but overall it was a good condition. Everything appeared clean and the staff was very nice. The free breakfast was just ok, but it was free, so really can’t complain. The location is right near a bunch of other hotels and a few dining options, so that was ok too. Overall not a bad stay.

Very nice hotel! Workers were very friendly and helpful! Easy to get to and wasn’t far from our sports venue. We stayed two nights and liked the setup of our king suite room. Very cute courtyard in the middle of hotel too!

I’m an late check in person for business. Finally a hotel who understands that curtains should block as much light as possible. Staff was accommodating with late check out as I was a late arrival and didn’t work until 3 pm the next day. Other “issue” was be aware that if you park on one side of the building you might be in a totally different building. You will need to walk through the whole hotel (but the staff cannot help the parking was full on one side of the building. I did not have ANY problems on my stay. Bed was a little hard but it was exactly what I needed. Pillows were soft.

This is a very quiet comfortable place to get a good nights rest. The room was super clean and the bed was one of the best hotel beds I found. Despite the hotel being near a major highway I heard no traffic noise. The room had a huge glass patio door and I expected it to be noisy and or cold. The room remained a perfect temperature. I heard no noise from above or from either surrounding rooms. I did hear loud conversations in the hall but that wasn’t something the hotel could predict. It was just rude inconsiderate guest at 1am. The two negatives that I did find are that the toilet is super low and I felt like a preschooler using it. I’m tall. The second was a smoke detector at the head of the bed that flashed all night. I felt like I was at a disco. I covered up my head and slept fine. The parking was plentiful and I felt safe here. I left super early to catch a flight and asked about it when I checked it. I was told the desk was manned 24/7. I waited about 10 minutes at 3:30 am and couldn’t locate anyone. Left the keys at the desk. I didn’t need it but it’s worth mentioning that breakfast here is for a fee and the restaurant onsite may or may not be open during inclement weather. I’ll use again.

We were assigned this hotel for a youth soccer showcase by the Showcase hotel booking agency. This place was terrible. First of all the staff is rude, extremely rude especially Manny and the two ladies who were at the front desk (there is one staff member John who was very nice and helpful and he was probably the only thing this hotel had going for them). Secondly, there is no continental breakfast, the bar/restaurant is not open at night, and the pool that is supposed to be open til 11 you will be kicked out of at 9. Thirdly the entire second floor smells of ****. Lastly and probably the main reason for this review, while we were staying there vandalism occurred in the hotel and cars were broken into in the parking lot during the day, which prompted the staff to evacuate the lobby at 10:30pm (mind you the vandalism had occurred hours prior we were not at the hotel when this happened so we can not verify what actually happened) because as we were told we were in imminent danger so we needed to go to our rooms. I will not stay here again. Had I been given a real choice in the first place I would not have chosen this hotel to begin with.
