We were on our honeymoon and this villa was absolutely Devine!
Straight out of a story book beautiful!
The staff and our room were 5 stars.
The breakfast included was also generous and gourmet delicious.
Already planning our return for the one year anniversary!

Charming hotel with a very French influence. Lots of character, warm swimming pool too. After this it gets very poor. Although the staff are lovely, like others have said they have no idea. Whatever you do don’t eat here. Dinner cold Breakfast cold Food and breakfast takes ages to come out and zero flavours. Could be such a better experience if management looked after the place. What a shame!

It wasn’t the best. A bit unorganised. Breakfast took over an hours and still didn’t get it. Others that come after us got theirs. The girl made one coffee for the table and said she would be back. Didn’t get the other one at all. Only 12 people but she couldn’t handle it. Dinner was a bit ordinary. Potato wedges with a nearly raw lamb rack . Could hear the people upstairs walking around last night and early this morning. Place needs some work and better staff. Very polite but I’m over their heads . I wouldn’t stay again !! .

Lovely location Spacious rooms Great welcome by reception Decor in main reception is very nice Desperately needs maintenance for example: French doors couldn't open as they were warped Gardens need attention as in water and weeding Carpet in room needs cleaning No bottled still water Day one Was first group to breakfast which starts at 7:45am. Ordered poached egg on toast-three other guests were served who arrived after us - we waited an hour. Food was cold. Day two Service was better day two. Pancakes were very nice. Has amazing potential

Disappointing experience. We were looking forward to our stay but the place is run down and cold. The lady at the front desk was friendly, our room lovely but old and needing an update, the dinner and breakfast disappointing and tasteless with a very long wait and there was only another couple staying so definitely not busy. We stayed 2 nights and ended stopping off at the supermarket to buy dinner the second night as we were not going to spend the money to eat at the restaurant again. We asked for the fire to be started in the fireplace but the lady had no idea how to start it. The grounds were unkept and our whole experience was terrible.

I had the most wonderful, revitalising and beautiful stay at Villa Howden. The host was delightful. She could not have done more to make my stay perfect. It was so peaceful and luxurious and unexpected. The building, the decor, the location - everything about this place is delightful and all this time I had no idea it was right on my doorstep! I will be recommending this place to all my friends and family. Whether, like me, you are looking for some solitude to recharge the old batteries, or a couple looking for a magical place to connect and unwind, or you're planning a big event (as a wedding venue it would be such fun!), I can not speak more highly of Villa Howden. A quirky, classy, special little piece of paradise.
