Hotel Costa Verde

Boked the Penthouse; beautiful room but staff not so friendly except for Maurice, who took us to the Bakery and waited for us; they tell you that transportation is available for around the property - we used it 3 times-felt like we were bothering them. Beach is not close, and you have you pay to rent beach chairs, etc. we stayed in the adult section where the pool was closed so we did not get to relax because of the construction - they should have made allowances for us. Full kitchen but guests should be advised to bring everything including basic spices; paper towel; cheap toiletries-bring your own as well as your own towels; very clean linen' bring your own bubble bath for the beautiful tub on the veranda; all the lights were not working; ate at Anaconda the 1st day and got sick; had the Magarita pizza the 2nd night but is was just a cheese pizza with slices of tomatoes--no mozzarella cheese nor basil even though it is listed. Had help taking our luggage to our room when we checked in but no help when we left... we were on our own bringing the luggage down the 4 flights of stairs. Texted for pick up from Area E without a response but the gentleman stationed there called and they came; went to the front desk to ask about parasailing tours and was told that they were going to get back to us but never received a response. Beautiful place but service was off- very disappointed because I booked based on seeing "Coolest Places on Earth".... Travelled to relax but disappointed in the service- However, I met some very nice folks and experienced an earthquake.

Nice hotel, a bit much for us, I think it's geared more to families/groups. Very up and down since on the side of the mountain but oh the view! I don't think I would like it in the busy season. We were in the "Adult" section and beds were hard/firm and not good on the pressure points if you sleep on your side. Pillows were good though. Very roomy with a kitchenette & private balcony. The water pressure in the shower is great! Close to the beach. The on site restaurants had very good food - we had a pizza at one and burgers at another. The bits of converted airplanes are a pretty cool thought. We walked almost everywhere.

We stayed in the 727 fuselage home. It was definitely a cool and unique experience to stay inside an old airplane. There were some notable pros and cons to our stay worth mentioning. Pros: Living space: large space which included two bedrooms/bathrooms and small kitchen. Balcony: Large and great views of the beach, ocean, and jungle. Monkeys also climbed up to our balcony when we were sitting outside. You definitely have to spend some time outside here. Shuttle: The hotel offers a free shuttle service to a few of the restaurants nearby the hotel. Cons: Cleanliness: Overall we felt like the space was not kept very clean. The floors were definitely dirty. We could feel lots of dirt and sand on our feet from waking around inside from when we first checked in. Also there was a musty smell inside. Price: Our stay was over $800 USD a night. Overall, it was a cool experience staying inside an airplane and being able to watch the monkeys from the balcony. I don’t think it was worth the price, especially with the condition the inside of the accommodation is kept. We’re glad we stayed here, however if we were to come back to Manual Antonio we would most likely pick another accommodation that offers a better price.

We stayed at Hotel Costa Verde from the end of July to the beginning of August for our wedding in 2024. Marcela works in events for the hotel and she was our coordinator. To say she was amazing is an understatement. For months leading up to the wedding, she was there to answer any questions I had - morning or night. The day of our wedding was the most magical day we could’ve ever asked for. The event space is breathtaking. The service was unmatched. And the food was fantastic. Not only was our wedding day wonderful, our entire stay was perfect. Every activity booked through the hotel was so much fun. Keep in mind, we were booking activities for 50+ people. The rooms were gorgeous. We stayed in the adult side and loved every second of it. The food from all outlets was also very good. However, the best part of our experience was the people working at the hotel. The service was incredible. We already are talking about planning a trip to relive our now fondest memories!

This hotel was amazing! My bestie and I travel annually with our daughters. The staff was amazing, remembering our names, reminding us about excursions and answering questions quickly. The hotel is beautiful, lots of food options and a very lovely clean vibe. Tons of monkeys and birds to see on site as well. Easy to drive here from San Jose (a couple hours).

Upon arrival at Hotel Costa Verde, we were a little disappointed in the distance from our room (Bungalow A-15 Palm Tree Casita) to the rest of the hotel and the pools. It almost felt like a forgotten part of the hotel, as it was so far separated from everything else, and just had a view of the employee parking area. We had to walk approximately 10 minutes through a construction area to get to the rest of hotel. After our 5 nights there, we loved Manuel Antonio, but would not return to to this hotel. We woke up 2 separate days with no water. We called the front desk, and they said it was a problem with the pipes. I’m not sure how long it lasted before it was fixed each day, but we had to dress and brush teeth and get ready for our day twice without it. Another thing we didn’t like about Costa Verde was the timing of the room cleaners. Every day, they came to our room between 3 and 4 pm. This meant we had to stand out on the porch for over 30 minutes while they tidied things up. While we appreciated the room being cleaned, I’ve never stayed in a hotel where the rooms are cleaned during late afternoon, when many families are getting ready for dinner or napping after a day of excursions. While there were issues with our stay at this hotel, it definitely had some bright spots as well. Breakfast in the Anaconda restaurant that our travel agent provided every morning was delicious, and the view from our table was one of the best of our entire trip. We also saw lots of wildlife around the property.

Beautiful setting with monkeys, sloths and exotic birds and plants all around. Our room was splendid, with soft pillows and crisp sheets, a kitchenette, AC and - best of all - a huge balcony with ocean views. I’m glad we are in the family area. It’s quiet. The ‘adult’ area was full of loud teens, playing music and taking and spilling their drinks in the pool. Probably not a regular thing - just our bad luck in terms of timing. But the terrace there by the adult pool is gorgeous. The walk to the beach is not long but very steep. Worth it once you get there. Fabulous waves and a good mix of quiet pockets snd stuff to do (parasailing, surfing, jet skies…). Lovely hotel.
