White Doe Inn Bed & Breakfast

It was our first time staying in Manteo and my wife and I couldn’t be happier with our experience at the White Doe Inn. Dave and Tonia are such gracious hosts and really go above and beyond to make sure your stay is special, from the complimentary amenities to the attention to detail, and by far the best breakfasts we’ve ever had at a B&B (or hotel stay)! The historic inn was tastefully decorated and had lots of secluded nooks and patios for lounging with a complimentary glass of afternoon wine. It was great to be within walking distance of downtown Manteo shops and restaurants. Our room (The Turret Room) was beautifully decorated , maintained well, and had a great wrap around balcony for sitting outside and enjoying a glass of wine or morning coffee. We hope to be back soon for another memorable stay!

We had a relaxing long weekend here exploring Manteo and the Outer Banks. Tonya and Dave were gracious hosts from the start of the day with delicious three course meals to happy hour wine and snacks. Perfect place to unwind and enjoy the beauty of the area.

Everything was absolutely perfect! Couldn’t not have asked for a better B&B to stay in and celebrate our elopement. The White Doe Inn was beautiful, clean and so comfortable. We stayed in the Garden suite and thought the bed was exceptionally comfortable and the bathroom a perfect little spa for two. Toniya and Dave were lovely people and the service and food they provided was incredible! Our pup enjoyed it as well and when we had forgotten a dish for him Toniya had immediately given us a spare doggie bowl. Loved our stay and we will be back!

Highly Recommend!!! My fiance and I came across this gem in our search for an all-inclusive elopement venue—and White Doe Inn did not disappoint! It’s filled with charm, romance, great food, and best of all—small-town hospitality. From the moment we arrived, Dave and Tonia made sure our stay/wedding was a memorable experience. Rose petals on the bed, chilled Prosecco, and chocolate-covered strawberries greeted us in our Raleigh Bedchamber. The next morning, we sat with other couples at a large table (although you have options to sit alone) where we enjoyed a DELICIOUS, 3-course breakfast. Afterwards, my fiance and I toured downtown Manteo and the beach while Tonia and Dave did all the prep work for our elopement. During those moments, we enjoyed each other instead of stressing over the wedding details or the need to entertain guests, which is what we wanted most for our day. The wedding itself was amazing! The bouquet was an EXACT duplicate of the picture I sent Tonia for inspiration. Barbara (Babs), our officiant, made it feel like we’d known her for years. She customized our ceremony specifically for us while the photographer, Kristie, took amazing pics. We even got some riding vintage bikes in the street! Afterwards, we ate a private dinner that was simply to die for. Hands down the best meal I’ve ever had! And the dark-chocolate raspberry semifreddo in a chocolate-covered heart shell…. OH. MY. GOD! I could go on and on about this place, but hope you’ll book a trip to experience it yourself. We will definitely be back!

We stayed at the White Doe Inn for our family reunion for a week. The owners, Tonia & Dave told us they just took over the business, which was hard to believe. They are natural hosts - friendly, helpful & caring. It’s as if they were doing this forever. The Inn is in a great location, and the rooms are all lovely. The 3-course breakfasts are delicious. Wine & snacks served from 4-6, & S’more packets ready to enjoy. A must stay if you are in the outer banks area!

This was our 5th visit to the White Doe. It is under new ownership, but they have not missed a beat. It is a family affair with husband, wife, son and nephew working to make your time there outstanding. They are walking distance from the docks where you could join a tour (we did dolphin watching), or casual dining. Te room was perfect and housekeeping visits every day without asking. Breakfasts were far more than we would normally eat, but so expertly prepared you just can't refuse a course. Highly recommended!

Beautiful charming place and lovely staff Everything was of top standard. Stunning large clean room with beautiful décor and lovely furnishings. Very comfortable bed with upgraded mattress and the ceiling fans were very pleasant for sleeping. There are nice views from the wraparound deck and comfortable furniture to enjoy them. The unique, well maintained antique furnishing and art décor throughout the whole house, move you to another era and at the same time create impression of peace, order and relaxation. Tonia and Dave are awesome and super responsive hosts, nothing too much trouble and made my stay most memorable. The gourmet delicious breakfasts, are incredible and delicious. Tonia’s culinary talents are out of this world. Thank you all for everything

We had a lovely stay and loved the beautiful room, the hospitality, and amazing delicious breakfasts. The owners are warm, hospitable and friendly. I would definitely recommend this place and look forward to coming back for another stay in the future.

On the positive side it is well positioned for Manteo harbour and the downtown area It is a characterful historic property with pleasant public areas. Otherwise however it is not such a great experience. The Turret bedchamber room was tired, the bed linen was stained and the bathroom especially the shower, was not at all clean. I did not feel able to use the shower. The carpets were dirty in the room also and we decided to leave early. It’s traditional and quaint, but clean it ain’t When we mentioned this to the innkeeper she made no attempt to try to make any apology and became very off hand. She completely ignored my wife for the whole time and was not at all warm from that point on. Less major but slightly annoying is the check in. You are emailed to say it is between 3-30 and 5-30pm and invited to call if you will be later. I called over 2 days with no response or facility to leave a message. Eventually I received an email 2 hours before my arrival. Breakfast is offered but as we had already arranged for breakfast elsewhere we did not take this up so cannot comment.
