Residence Inn Madison East

The positives: the location is right by I-90 but far enough to be quiet. The staff is very friendly. The beds are comfortable. The negatives: It is a run-down hotel. It needs deep cleaning and lots of repainting/repairs. The breakfast is so poor that most people would look and leave. The only hot choices were scrambled eggs and scrambled eggs on some mornings. No cut fruits ever.

We were disappointed with our room at the Residence Inn Madison East as the room's furniture was very worn, especially the sleeper sofa/couch was very uncomfortable to sit on and the bathroom was filthy. We had to ask the housekeeping to come and clean excrement residue that was left on both sides of the bathroom door and on the wall next to the toilet and adjacent wall. There was a shortage of accommodations available throughout the whole city during the days we were there, so we were thankful when we were able to move to another Marriott facility in another area of Madison.

We stayed one night for a sporting event in the area. We chose this hotel specifically for the pool so our kids could swim. The pool area is nice (no hot tub), but the kids dipped their toes in the pool and it was freezing. There was no heat and the kids couldn't stay in, it was so cold. It was also dirty on the bottom and the kids said it tasted like salt. I asked the desk worker, who was very nice, if she knew about the pool and she said she had heard that but wasn't able to fix anything. We didn't see a single person in the pool during our stay...makes sense. The room was set up nicely and breakfast was okay as well.

I was in Madison when a family member was having surgery, which can be a stressful time. I cannot begin to state all superlatives about the treatment I received from the staff. The managers, Nicholas and Max, the desk rep, Nat and Ashley who was cleaning the hall and elevator were amazing, thoughtful and helpful. The positive feeling you get working with these people is that they care, and their service reflects that. I did stay in a two-bedroom, two bath room with a fireplace in the living room and fully equipped kitchen. They provide a wonderful ful breakfast, and I don't know what else I could have wanted in a stay. I highly recommend this location.

I had stopped in briefly awaiting transfer to another city, and had just an absolutely wonderful time chatting with the fantastic associate at the front desk. From her adorable heart shaped glasses to her friendly disposition and mild mannered yet extremely welcoming disposition she was 100% a pleasure and an absolute asset. Traveling can be long and tedious and often fraught with less than friendly city folk, but this gal was just such a treat. Even sweeter than the color coordinated candy bucket at the front desk. 100% no 200% % would return just for her small talk. If you’re lucky maybe you’ll even get to play a little bit of The Price Is Right with her guessing how much the hotel candy is. 15/10 stars

Staff is friendly and respond quickly to any request. Rooms are large with all the necessities for a long stay to include large living room stove dishes pans utensils etc.… Very nice lounge with a great fireplace and I enjoy the happy hour m-w. Kassia is always bright and cheery at the front desk in the morning and Matt is a pleasure to converse with in the evening. Great price and location.
