I recently stayed at Residence Inn Lynchburg at 2630 Wards Road and had a disappointing experience due to an unfounded accusation. The hotel has modern amenities, comfortable rooms, and a convenient location, but the way management handled the situation left a lot to be desired. Upon check-out, I was not informed about a smoking charge added to one of my rooms because housekeeping reported evidence of smoking in my room. As a non-smoker, I contested the charge immediately, explaining that I did not smoke in the room. The staff insisted that the smell of smoke was detected on the floor, and my room was held responsible without concrete proof. I requested to speak with Jamie, the general manager, hoping to resolve the issue amicably, but she was equally adamant and unwilling to consider the possibility of an error. This experience overshadowed what could have been a pleasant stay. While I understand the need to enforce non-smoking policies, it is crucial to handle such accusations with care and ensure clear evidence before imposing penalties on guests. Being wrongly accused and charged for something I did not do was frustrating and left me feeling disrespected as a guest. To potential guests, I would recommend this hotel for its amenities and location but advise being cautious and perhaps documenting the condition of your room upon arrival and departure. Unfortunately, what should have been a straightforward stay turned into a stressful experience due to this incident. I hope the management reconsiders their approach to handling similar situations in the future to avoid unjust accusations and maintain a positive relationship with their guests.
