Hotel Victoria au Lac

This hotel has pluses and minuses. I booked it for the price and Lake view. Most to the reviews here are correct in some ways. The old owner does walk around smoking a cigar (mostly in the restaurant downstairs), and his baby photos are everywhere. It's a bit creepy. However, we found our room to be very clean and comfortable AND we had a balcony with the promised lake view which was spectacular! We also had a bathtub, which you don't find often in the mid-range hotels. It was clean and the water nice and hot, although the drain didn't work well. The thick glass doors kept the noise out at night and we slept well. We found the hotel perfectly safe. Good thing we didn't read the rest of these reviews before booking! I wouldn't recommend Lord Tillingdon's restaurant below the hotel however; the food and wine were so-so and too expensive for what we got.

Hotel is actually really old. Bedrooms are very simple and we can see that the place is not well kept. Everything looks cheap and not changes for years and years (room doesn’t seem so comfy, minibar has been removed but there is still the logo and the whole decoration is so old and not well maintained). There is also a cigarette smell all over the hotel from the reception to the floors. I would say the highlights of the place are: nice view from the lake view bedroom, double-glazed windows (very calm), easy room service, easy access (5 min by bus to center) and adorable and kind employees always super helpful. However, it super disappointing to have such a beautiful building not well maintained, left alone and badly exploited.

We stayed for one night in our way to Switzerland. The hotel is a little bit old and the breakfast not so rich, but the room with view over the lake was worthing every euro. The staff is very politely and helpful. We want to say thank you to Cristina, who made our stay to Lugano very pleasant.

This hotel has a great location but from there on the pricing reflects the standard. Some reception staff were rude and totally disengaged. The owner walks around shirtless smoking a cigar. The hotel appears to be a family shrine with nothing updated since at least 1970. It appears the owner thinks he can “fix & renovate” himself. Eg: the balcony has been spray painted until the can of paint ran out, the minibar sign is upside down (there is no minibar), broken hooks are not removed from the wall, rather another hook is drilled, old air conditioners adorn the walls, old functioning air conditioners have drip buckets under them right next to electrical wires - we had to empty the bucket three times during the night to avoid flooding. Bizarrely there are holographic smiley face stickers on bathroom tiles, outdated menus and antique furniture. The most off putting was the tablecloths and cereal containers inside the breakfast room were covered in bird poop as the owner feeds the sparrows. The balcony tables and chairs are covered in bird poop. This hotel has the potential to be amazing for its location and it’s historic architecture but in its current state we can’t recommend it.

We arrived and instantly felt unsafe. Our door had no lock, and the hotel did not feel secure. The room itself was dirty and smelled musty. Bathroom was very dirty with creepy hooks and no toilet paper. There were mirrors and about 45 pictures of this same random baby EVERYWHERE. Very weird. I almost always rate everything 5 stars but this was unacceptable. As two young girls traveling alone, we left and found a different hotel. We were told that we would be refunded but have not gotten the money back and have heard nothing.

I reserved this hotel with clearly requested "REAL NON-SMOKING ROOM" due to I allergic to the smoke. I arrived at hotel and met old man who smoked cigar and swept the floor, I said hello to him, no respond or any welcome from him. I check in with their lady staff, she requested me to pay tax, I paid by cash and didn't requested for receipt. I just realized that the hotel full of smoking smell. I got on 4th floor and nice view room. I entered to the room, it is full of smoked smell. I open the window to get the air flow and hopefully the smell will be gone. The bath tub is look yellow, the pillow are not fluffy any more. I thought to myself at least good view and smell should be gone after air flow into the room. I heard noise of the step above my room all the time. I couldn't sleep well during the night due to I cough, can't breath and noise above my room. Next morning, I walk down to breakfast room, this is the worse, really smell of smoked. I try to talk to the lady staff, she is in the bad mood and don't want to talk to me period. I just want to asked about the room. I left without breakfast, couldn't eat with such an environment. I went to walk and came back in the afternoon and check the room, it is still full of smoked then I decide to left the hotel. I went to check out, I talk to the man staff, he is also unpleasant but can speak Eng. I try to explained to him why I want to check out earlier than my plan to stay. He would not accept and want to charge me one night and said I didn't pay anything. He charged one more night through my credit card right the way without compromised and listen at all. IF YOU WANT YOUR PRESANT STAY PLEASE DON'T STAY HERE, IT IS LOOK REASONAL PRICE BUT YOU WILL NEVER GET REST!

While very reasonably priced, this old hotel is in need of serious refurbishment. There is very limited staffing (at most two people for managing the front desk and restaurant at breakfast plus cleaning staff), bizarre mix of interior paintings, and stairs that have seen better days (as have the doors, security, and locks on the room doors). Before ranting about the limitations, there are some important positive aspects including the price (very reasonable), functional AC (although all rooms seem to have a drain bucket in the room), a functional TV, and hot water. That said, the shower set up is bizarre and often leads to spray all over the bathroom floor, the bathroom amenities are super basic, the bed is soft and pillows hard, breakfast quite basic but fresh, and wifi was highly functional. The location within a block of the water in the Paradiso area is super so that swimming, walks along the water, and excursions to great nearby restaurants are all possible.

This hotel is horrible. The entire hotel is old and damaged. The whole floor makes noise when you walk. You can hear all the noises from all neighboring rooms. Poor cleaning. The door to our room had an opening through which we could see in, and all the noises from the hallway could be heard in the room. I woke up several times with noises from other rooms (footsteps,people talking, screaming, running water, etc...) THE PHOTOS DO NOT CORRESPOND TO REALITY!! The rooms and the entire hotel is a real disaster, it is full of patches. This hotel doesn't even deserve one star! It is impossible to be a 3 star hotel. This hotel feels like the home from "Adams Family". Especially with the music they put on in the restaurant. Creepy! Basic breakfast and not good coffee. The entire hotel is poorly maintained and "abandoned". Nasty and dirty air ducts. The shower is ridiculous. It was the worst hotel of my entire life. Zero comfort in this hotel. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS HOTEL, EVEN IF I GET PAYED TO STAY HERE. Dieses Hotel ist schrecklich. Das gesamte Hotel ist alt und beschädigt. Der ganze Boden macht Geräusche, wenn Sie gehen. Man hört alle Geräusche aus allen Nachbarzimmern. Schlechte Reinigung. Die Tür zu unserem Zimmer hatte eine Öffnung, durch die wir hineinsehen konnten, und alle Geräusche vom Flur waren im Zimmer zu hören. Ich bin mehrmals mit Geräuschen aus anderen Räumen aufgewacht (Schritte, sprechendes, schreiendes, fließendes Wasser usw.) DIE FOTOS ENTSPRECHEN NICHT DER REALITÄT!! Die Zimmer und das gesamte Hotel ist eine echte Katastrophe, es ist voller Flecken. Dieses Hotel verdient nicht einmal einen Stern! Es ist unmöglich, ein 3-Sterne-Hotel zu sein. Dieses Hotel fühlt sich an wie das Zuhause von "Adams Family". Besonders mit der Musik, die sie im Restaurant auflegen. Unheimlich! Einfaches Frühstück und kein guter Kaffee. Das gesamte Hotel ist schlecht gepflegt und "verlassen". Böse und schmutzige Luftkanäle. Die Dusche ist lächerlich. Es war das schlechteste Hotel meines ganzen Lebens. Null Komfort in diesem Hotel. Ich werde nie wieder in dieses Hotel zurückkehren, selbst wenn ich dafür bezahlt werde, hier zu bleiben.
