The Black Bull Inn

We dined a the Inn on 8th of September and the food was excellent BUT where I was seated it could just as well have been a public loo. The room was dimly lit, fine, and totally unnecessary background music, cold, until I turned on the heating. The wall I was facing was dull blue/grey with some old black and white photos of the inn to my left. The pictures might have been interesting if one could see them but they were behind a table and in the dark. It is a great pity as with a bit of thought the aspect could have been SO much better. Anyway we enjoyed the food.

Excellent location for exploring Northumberland coast and borders. Quiet village. Very friendly. Well decorated throughout and rooms very comfortable. Food is outstanding with a great variety and daily specials. Reasonably priced too. The chef has a real understanding of flavours and presentation. Can’t recommend highly enough. Plenty of parking at rear.

My partner and I visited the Black Bull Inn for a meal, as recommended by our Host where we were staying. I booked up in advance, due to it being Easter and glad I did because it was super busy - a great sign. On arrival, we were a little lost and although it took a little bit of time to be seen and sat down, we were happy to hang around and wait (although we did feel like Southern outsiders haha). Once seated, a lovely waitress took our orders and the evening got better and better. Food was served beautifully presented and service was great. Recommend the pork belly, it was delightful. It was also nice to see on the menu that all the food and drink provided was from local places that won awards, and no wonder why! The food was outstanding! Really pleased and recommend this little gem x

Dined there on Saturday night. Eceptionally good food. Staff very helpful. I had two starters, the Game Goujons and the Five Spiced Shredded Duck Leg. My wife had the Partridge Risotto and the Black Bull Cheesecake; all excellent. Washed down with an excellent couple of pints and a half pint of cider for my wife

An amazing friendly restaurant/Inn near Berwick upon Tweed. Situated in a small village. Car parking available. Food is excellent. Lovely atmosphere in bar. Angel checked us in on arrival. She was excellent and so helpful. Our second visit and will return.

This has to be one of the best places we have ever eaten at or stayed at. 100% for everything. Normally there is something not quite right, the place, the atmosphere, the beer, the room, the food or the staff, however not so in this case. Everything was 100% perfect. The place was a great location, the staff nice and friendly, the beers were excellent and our room, the Alnwick, was really very very good. Great comfy bed, lovely bathroom and shower, couldn't be better. However our evening meal was exceptional. The breakfast was also very good indeed. So good was our stay that i find it hard to put into words just how good it was. First class stay and I would highly recommend staying here if you are visiting the area.

We visited the Black Bull for an evening meal following a long journey. The table was booked in advance as others have suggested though turned out not to be necessary on the night. Welcome on arrival was warm and friendly as was the service throughout. Meals were good quality, tasty and very generous size portions offering excellent value for money. The pub has been very tastefully refurbished and provides a pleasant environment. I would have no hesitation going back if I were in the area again.

The family room we had booked was the most expensive and we were aware that the room was above the bar but what we didn't expect was music and loud noise going onto 1:30 in the early hours. Once awake it really hard to get back to sleep. However after we contacted *********** in the morning and talking to the hotel we were offered a full refund and even a free breakfast. It's a shame that because of some inconsiderate people that we had to move on and the hotel lost out aswell.
