Maypole Inn

Stayed in the village for two nights, had evening meal at the Maypole both evenings. Staff were friendly, and the food was really good and plentiful. We booked in for breakfast on our last morning in the area. Breakfast was good. Good choice of beers.

We called in for Sunday lunch on our way up the Dales, the food was great with a lovely selection of vegetables. The meat was very tender and melted in your mouth. One only slight negative the barman seemed more interested chatting to the people sat at the bar than engaging with us. Saying that we would definitely come back

We popped in on our way back from a day out. What delicious food. We both had pate to start then I had the Sunday roast while my husband ordered the pie. All was cooked to perfection. Will definitely return when passing again. Also good value for money.

4 of us popped in on friday 6th Sept for lunch. My friend has visited before and we were out for visits to the Dales, He suggested we dine at the Maypole, how right he was with his choice. 3 had the scampi, served with wonderfully prepared salad and coleslaw, 1 had the steak and ale pie, also with a side salad. The pie was equisite, with a lovely pastry top and filled with steak ingravy to the top. What sets the Maypole apart, 2 ordered chips 2 ordered new potatoes with the meals. They arrived seperate in a turin, the chips were plentiful and home cooked, the quantity was excellent. The new potatoes were smoothered in butter. Lovely. Oh, the ales on offer, our favourite, Timothy Taylors landlord and Black Sheep.. The driver had none i,m afraid. Too full for a pudding. They also have a specials board with tempting offers. An excellent meal in a perfect Pub and location.

Really enjoyed my 1 night stay here. Staff were helpful and cheery,room was beautifully clean and well furnished, gorgeous bathroom with fluffy towels and a fab shower. Outdoor seating area with ample parking. We shared 3 starters for our evening meal as we weren't that hungry having eaten fish and chips in Settle earlier that day (another good review) 🙂 The food was lovely, well presented and delicious, dishes were Bruschetta,chicken liver pate, and spicy prawns all served with salad and all home made. The pate was superb. Breakfast next morning was also good. Overall an enjoyable stay and would recommend

Told them I was gluten tolerance and received my Sunday lunch with yorkshire pudding on and gravy with gluten in its was cold and my tea came in a pot so after the first cup the rest of the tea was cold. Staff were nice although the service was slow to say it wasn't busy

Just passing and called in for a meal. One of us had fish and chips and the other sirloin steak. The fish had soggy batter and tasted as though it had come out of the freezer, the sirloin steak had been battered with a meat hammer, why ? Ordered the steak rare and it came out medium to well done, when there was no salad garnish on the plate we asked for a side salad, the chef/waiter basically said he couldn't do one so left it at that, the great girl behind the bar sorted that out and got one organised and didn't charge us for the steak, thank you. Good beer and wine but don't think we will be back

Stopped here unplanned looking for some food, we have the steak and ale pie + ham egg and chips. Great sized portions and the food was very tasty. Yes I would recommend and would definitely visit again. Seams like a busy pub for food, did not have any beer so cannot comment on its quality.

Just back from a two night stay at the Maypole and would highly recommend it. We'd booked our train to arrive in Long Preston before the check in time, however I had emailed ahead and was able to drop off our case so that we could explore the local area for a few hours. We were met by Marti and she was so warm and friendly - the perfect welcome. We walked into Settle over the hills which took just over an hour and then caught the train back - the Maypole is only a few minutes walk from the train station so it's perfectly placed. We were in Room 5 which was exactly as pictured and very comfortable. We ate in the pub both evenings and the food was delicious and reasonably priced. I had the veggie bolognese both evenings as it was so tasty and my partner had the burger on the first night and then joined me with the veggie bolognese on the second evening. Neither of us are vegetarians but it was absolutely divine. Lesley looked after us on the first evening - a lovely lady who was very knowledgeable about the area and when we asked for a few extra teabags and milk for the room, it was no trouble for her at all. We both have to give a big hurrah for Beth - the sweetest young lady who was a joy to chat to. We have no doubt you will get your dream four wheel drive one day Beth! Overall a superb stay - large comfortable room, tasty breakfast, delicious evening meals and puddings that were divine and the ladies mentioned in this feedback were all superb - thank you for making our stay so lovely!
