An absolutely outstanding place to stay and eat. We spent 3 days and enjoyed a great Sunday roast,3 great breakfasts and a really good dinner on the last night. We extended our stay from 2 to 3 days and were moved to an even nicer room/room suite for the final day. Staff fabulously friendly and genuinely passionate. Big thanks to the super lovely French Manager Cyril and the team, especially Caddie, B, Jo karina Chloe Helena (sorry if miss-spelt!) We will definitely be back

Yet Another fantastic evening out! Great food and service I cannot praise this place enough special mention to Joe O for looking after us! And Jacob and Calum for cooking for us We had the fish cake and then trout both dishes we highly recommend!

My family arranged a surprise lunch for me and I was definitely not disappointed! From the moment you walk into the Black Lion it feels so homely and friendly but grand! The staff are very polite and welcoming and can't do enough for you without being overbearing. The food is excellent (the lamb cooked to perfection) and as for desserts make sure you leave room! Will definitely being going back to this gem of a place

stayed here for one night we was attending a wedding in the area , my daughter stayed the night before with the bride as she was maid of honour the service we received was second to none they were looked after so well also they let us into our rooms early so we didn't have to drive in our wedding outfits , the rooms were amazing , lovely views over the green , breakfast was lovely in the gorgeous restaurant beautiful building but it all is made extra special by the excellent staff definitely stay again

We had a really enjoyable stay. The pub/ hotel was lovely. The staff were friendly and welcoming. As well as staying in accommodation we also booked an evening meal in the pub restaurant. The food was absolutely delicious and the service great. We also enjoyed the 3 glasses of wine for £10 offer that gave us the chance to try some different options . Our room was clean and had a great size en-suite with both bath and shower. The breakfast ( included in room price) was delicious and generously sized. We would definitely recommend and wouldn’t hesitate to return if in the area again Thank you to all the staff for making us so welcome.

Great pub with rooms on the green. We arrived early but we shown straight to room 7 overlooking the green on two sides. Very light and airy room with bath & shower. Dinner & breakfast were excellent. Short walk to Melford Hall across the road & into the village.

The Black Lion is a nicely located pub in a country setting. The lunch menu was well developed with excellent assorted entrees, Our dishes were very well prepared and delicious. On a busy day the service was excellent at tables both inside and outside. Delightful experience.

We had a lovely overnight stay at the Black Lion. The hotel has a lovely atmosphere and our room was clean and comfortable. Staff are friendly and efficient. Parking is easy just up the road a short distance and is free. Lovely location overlooking the green and we enjoyed our evening stroll to the main High Street. Lovely walks in the surrounding area.

Staff literally bent over backwards to help with our needs, (we’d booked with two dogs, first time they’d had a hotel stay with us, one dog extremely hyper and needy.. ) had a table booked for a meal before realising he’d just annoy everyone and would have screamed like a child if left in the room, went downstairs to cancel the table and was told we could have the smaller closed off dining area to ourselves, we was absolutely thrilled and enjoyed a delicious 3 course meal in private with both dogs, so kind of the staff, outstanding customer service
