The hotel itself is nice. Most staff were very friendly and helpful, however a few rude staff leave a bad taste. The beds were comfortable but if you are coming anytime that is not June, July, or August do not expect air conditioning even if it is 25C/ 80F outside. We booked a family room for 4 adults and would not recommend this as there is only one bathroom and we underestimated the amount of space in the room. We booked this hotel due to its proximity to Ambois and Chenonceau. However in hindsight I would probably have stayed in Tours instead. The town of Loches is small and restaurants are few and stay open short hours. It was a challenge finding dinner at night, as most places close by 8, even if you drive a little, it’s challenging. The people of Loches are hard to communicate with, even though we had one fluent French speaker and one conversational French speaker in our group. I really think they heard our American accents and would just dismiss us! It was disheartening because the area is beautiful and I really wanted to like it. If we were to come back we would definitely stay in a slightly larger town with (hopefully) more open minded people.
