Was very disappointed with my stay here. After checking in and realizing there were no chain or deadbolt locks on either of my two outside doors, maintenance came to install two locks while I waited (why weren't they there to begin with?!). When I notified the owner (as I had booked through Air BNB), I got a defensive response, and my concerns were dismissed ("this is the Adirondacks, it's safe!"). Besides the locks, I found the room to be dated, with older fixtures, a lukewarm shower, and dirty floors. Would not recommend staying here... unless you're ok with this kind of experience.

Big disappointment. Parking lot is super tight. Upon check in was told our room was up a flight of stairs. It has a strange smell inside. Definitely needs some tic. All the curtains are hanging out of wall. Floors need to be refinished. Water won't go down in bathroom sink lightbulbs out in bathroom. Spoke to the manager/ owner Lisa and explained dissatisfaction with and the fact I was billed 850 for two nights for these accommodations. She offered to fix sink and that was it.

We stayed at the Sundowner for 3 nights in Lake George and were very happy with our room - nicely updated in a Adirondack Cabin theme and spotlessly clean with a large bathroom, plenty of towels and a nice full kitchen that has a refrigerator, 2 burner cooktop and microwave as well as all kitchen necessities you may need. Nice location close enough to walk to the downtown area for shopping, dining, etc. (was just a little difficult due to extreme weather/heat last week). The per night weekday rate was a little higher in my opinion that it should have been, but everything in Lake George Village is pricey.

This was our first time staying here and I have to say we were very impressed with the cabin and motel. We stayed in Cabin 209 (Lake front)and it was beyond gorgeous and clean. Bed was very comfortable too. The staff went out of their way to make you feel special. The housekeeper was adorable and the maintenance staff greeted you with a smile each morning. We will be back. Thank you Sundowner for a great few days.

Private sandy beach directly on Lake George. Guests have free use of gas BBQ grills, canoes, kayaks, paddle boards and rowboat. Accommodations for any size family. Lake view rooms with private decks. Cabins and suites with private decks and BBQ grills. Remodeling and renovations of all rooms appears to be complete. Our private cabin had a king size bed, private deck, gas BBQ grill and fully equipped kitchenette, and was freshly renovated with the addition of a jacuzzi tub for 2, separate shower stall and fireplace. Spotlessly clean. Pagoda covered sun deck overlooking beautiful Lake George and adjacent to the swimming pool and hot tub is our favorite place in LG. Friendly, professional, hard working owners and staff. Free parking. Easy walking distance to Lake George village and restaurants, shops, stores and attractions. 2024 was our 13th consecutive year vacationing in LG, our 11th year staying at Sundowner Motel and the 9th year since the property was added to the Gregor family of hotels. We wouldn’t consider staying anywhere else. Sundowner Motel is the BEST.

Start with the good..end with the bad: Good: Beautiful, newly done large room directly over the lake. Very comfortable king-sized bed. Good kitchen area. Bar and jacuzzi. (We didn't really need or use either, but very nice.) Nice sized balcony with very comfortable furniture. Amazing view of the lake. It is a very, very short distance to the lake. Use of kayaks, boards, etc. included. Staff was very helpful and accommodating for our couple small requests. (Clean bath towels and blow dryer repair). Bad: Pay cash. Otherwise, 4% additional fee. I guess this is on me for not researching adequately. We stayed July 26-29, as that was our vacation week. We chose to stay in a lake front room. Very expensive room rate. We wanted lakefront, so paid it While there I looked up the price for the same accommodation for the following week; same days (Wed-Sat). Room price was $150 less.per night. I called management. Hard to get a straight answer. Then she said something about the last week in July was the most expensive in Lake George; with no explanation why...looks like prices vary greatly. Do your research. She said no rooms available anywhere in Lake George. Saw many vacancy signs. This is the worst: quiet time starts 10 pm. Friday night a large group was at the fire pit area. (Our room directly above). They arrived around 9:30. They were quiet. As the night progressed they got louder their noise level/yelling increased. Being patient people we waited. They continued until late into the night. Not able to find the after hour number to call we ended calling the police at 1:40 am.. They came; though not happy, and the gathering dispersed. I was able to find the number in my call logs and called the after hours number in the morning. (I honestly didn't think of that in the middle of the night). Upon calling I did not get so much as an " I am sorry." All she said was if I called they would have broken it up..disgraceful..I went on to express our disappointment. She literally said NOTHING!! I asked her if she anything to say: again no response. There is also a safety factor involved. The fire pit is wood with zero monitoring. Fire and drinking is a bad combination. I originally intended to share a nice review. Sadly, Friday night's activities and management response ( or lack of concern) over shadowed the good

We have stayed at the Sundowner Motel since Jeff and Ann owned it. Probably has to be 30 years now. We were sad to see them leave, but glad that they retired. Good for them. The new owners, who own a couple of places in Lake George, did some remodeling and the place is beautiful. Everything has a log cabin feel to it. They combined 2 rooms and made one large that sleeps 10. I think they have several rooms like that. Also, several of the rooms now have gas grills outside. The beach area is nice and clean and the grassy area has a fire pit that you can use. We were having a family reunion and our son purchased wood and starters and our niece's husband had the stuff to make S'mores, so we did that one night. Now, on to the staff. Every single one was very happy to help us and accommodate us in every way. Very friendly and great to talk to. I met one staff member on the beach who was cleaning the gas grills down there. There are 3 down there. I started talking to him and asked about the grills. We had brought hamburgers and hot dogs to cook on the beach but had forgotten utensils. He said he would be glad to get them for us if we needed them or we could inquire at the front desk. His name was Kay-Jay (not sure of the spelling but you get the idea.) and he was extremely pleasant to talk to. There is another staff member that I would like to point out how he was towards me. First off, I am 68 and need to walk with a cane for several reasons, one of which is I have diabetic neuropathy in my legs and feet which kind of makes it painful to walk after a while. I am also a heart transplant patient for the last 18 years which causes me to get tired and out of breath when walking a distance. We had taken the Minne-Ha-Ha pirate cruise on Thursday night with our grandchildren and were walking back to the hotel. On the way, we stopped for ice cream at Ben & Jerrys' and continued on. We got to Shepards Park and I had to rest, It was already about 8:45 and we wanted to get back to the Sundowner to see the Thursday fireworks from the beach. After resting at Shepards Park for a while we continued on. I was trying to rush and got to the Surfside and had to stop again. The fireworks started and our granddaughter was already on the beach and we were not there. We started off again and got back to Sundowner but still had to go down the hill to the beach. We were at the top so our car was right there so my wife said she would drive me down. I said no and tried to keep going. I joked and said if one of the staff with a golf cart came by we should borrow it and do that. Then we noticed a golf cart with a couple of staff people sitting in it watching the fireworks. My wife asked about it and the driver, who said his name was Dean, said he would be glad to drive me down. He not only took me to the beach, but he got out and assisted me down to the water's edge where our daughter was waiting with our granddaughter Lily. He stayed with me fo

We stayed last year here when we couldn’t find reservations elsewhere. It wasn’t a great room but it had a balcony overlooking the lake. We came back this year for the same view and the room was completely upgraded. Great view of the lake. We loved the bar and hottub, and the kitchen was a nice bonus. The staff was super helpful and friendly. It was about $500 a night which is very high for a motel, but we paid it, so that’s on us. Few suggestions for management. Add a canopy to the balcony so we can sit outside when it is raining. You need more storage surfaces in the bathroom. A long shelf next to the sink would be helpful. (Just adding suggestions!)

Our annual July get away to this hotel. Fiasco start to finish. Arrived in town @ noon hotel was pretty empty. Asked about early check In. They said no problem come back in an hour. We came back over an hour later room not ready. Ok not a big issue. Hotel was pretty empty. We asked about upgrading room closer to water/beach/pool area. We were told no available rooms. Made no sense it was a ghost town midweek. I check online via phone and there are several rooms available in building 2 for our two night stay. Even cheaper than what we were gonna pay.. I say to desk clerk I don't care if you want to charge me more we would just like the better room , we are yearly customers too. We were told no, not available again. I said their available online. Desk clerk says i dont know what to tell you their not available. I said what if I book it online instead, see what happens. She asks what price we're seeing for better room. I reply doesn't matter and ask again is it available. She says no we have no availability other than your current room. I ask what if I try to book online. Clerk says it wont work, if you try it wont work you will get a credit back on your card saying not available. We stepped outside, booked a room ( not the exact waterfront room we wanted but we were just curious what would happen ) online, went back inside and told the clerk it worked and gave her the info for new reservation. She checks her computer and sure enough it was there. I said just cancel the original room or charge me the difference and put us in the waterfront room it's available. She calls someone else on phone and then tells us what we did was considered room hogging and no refund on first room. I said what?? Room hog. I did this right here in front of her. Fiasco. Frustrating. We go to our new room ( still not the empty waterfront requested) finally close to 4pm. Whole day shot. We went up later asking to speak to manager was told he would be in in morning. We again questioned the vacant room we really wanted and were told no again. We went to office in morning still no manager, we asked about waterfront room again still told no its not available. Spent the afternoon fuming about not being able to talk to anyone to address us being charged for both rooms. We were sitting outside and a family came in headed toward waterfront room. We asked when they booked that room, family says just now on our way to town. We went back to our room packed up.. went to front office and returned our keys and did not stay the second night. No credit to our charge cards.. charged 2 nights for each room. No one to talk to who could work with us. We've always highly recommended this hotel for years. Never.again!
