Premier Resort the Moorings, Knysna

We stayed at the Moorings for 2 nights. Unfortunately, the first night there was no water, which would have been useful information at check-in. On the positive side, the rooms are spacious & reasonably comfortable (although furniture showing fatigue) with lock-out suites available. The shower in the bathroom was ridiculously small and difficult to access. Large soaker tub but, with water issues, unuseable. Toilets are impossibly low, with no grab bars. The restaurant was buffet only, but the food was very good and lots of variety for breakfast and dinner. The grounds offered a swimming pool and comfortable looking furniture, but weather prevented us enjoying it. Cozy bar available off the dining room. The hotel is some distance from the town, so not easily walkable. It looks like it was designed as a timeshare that wasn’t able to sell sufficient units. If it wasn’t booked for us by our tour company, I wouldn’t choose it.

We had 2 nights there on our Garden Route tour. Rather surprised we got an appartment with 2 large bedrooms upstairs and below a large kitchen, dining place and living room. outside quite a large park going down to the lagoon. The last night we were thankful for the 2nd bed room due to the fact with heavy rain it started to leak into our room and water in the bed !!!!! So we changed rooms and informed the staff upon departure. A nice area - but you need a cadr or taxi to get into Knysna. There is 2 restaurants - one of which is Italian - very good see my review. Nice to avoid the buffets in our opinion

Dreadful. House keeping shocking. Beds uncomfortable and worst of all when loadshedding kicks in for two hours the noisiest generator kicks in right by the rooms. Last night from 8-10 and then 2-4 in the morning. Zero sleep. What about the families with young kids. Breakfast very poor. Service acceptable but warm beers are not.

Your manager, Gary, shouldn't be a manager. He was rude and very unhelpful, and became quite belligerent when I asked him about an extension cable. Your hotel smells like sewage, which was like that for a number of days. Your maintenance happened at 8 a.m. in the morning while I was still sleeping. You charged R110 for a salad. Your barmen, when asked to make a strawberry daiquiri, didn't know how. Your breakfast served old food EVERY SINGLE MORNING and when I questioned it nothing was done about it and it was stimply apoligies and nothing changed. This stay at your hotel was terrible, and I WILL NEVER go back This was a waste of R22 000.00

Staff very pleasant and welcoming. Room was very comfortable, clean and spacious. Plenty of wardrobe space, good shower and comfortable bed. We stayed 2 nights as part of an escorted tour holiday. Good choice at breakfast, cereals, bacon etc and omelettes and eggs cooked on request. Gluten free bread available but you have to ask for it. (I am coeliac, plenty of gluten free options for breakfast). Knyana waterfront is a 5 to 10 min drive. We got a taxi there, 120 rand there and 70 rand back?? Some of the other people on our tour paid 160 rand each way?? There is an Italian restaurant in the grounds, we didn't eat there but those who did, enjoyed their food. Definitely a good place to stay when visiting Knysna.

The Premier Resort At The Moorings is a very modern and upscale hotel in Knysna. What made our stay special is that we got upgraded to a suite. Never quite sure why, but who is complaining. Our suite, 205, included a very nice combo living room and full kitchen in one room and the bedroom in another. Both rooms were very comfortable. Our suite also had a balcony that looked over the ocean. Everything about the suite was excellent. Our dinner was buffet in their dining room. Lots of local flavors which my wife liked a lot more than me. Breakfast again was served buffet style which was very good. I would highly recommend staying here while in Knysna.
