It is ~5km away from the main tourist spots (old town, mosque etc). While it may have been the best hotel in the past, it now feels a bit old. The rooms are ok, beds are comfortable but AC didn't work and it was 28C in the room! the windows didn't close properly (we had a huge sandstorm and the air was really bad). They have a swimming pool in the basement but it was being repaired when we went. Pool opening hours are funny (3-10pm) while a morning swim would be nice. The staff is friendly and tries its best to help out. they have a mini market with drinks and fruits etc, which is convenient. they are supposed to have a sightseeing teahouse on the top floor (37th) but the whole floor was completely destroyed and abandoned, very strange.
Breakfast is ok, nothing special. On a clear day, the view looking south is amazing (on Kongur Shan at 7600 m high).
