Unfortunately, we had to book a hotel last minute because of a death in the family. This hotel appeared to be our best option since our regular hotels where we normally stay were booked. Once we checked in, we found black mold in the bathroom and near the AC unit. We reported it to the front desk and they offered us a different room. Because we were making funeral arrangements, we had a full day and weren’t able to change rooms until the evening. When we tried, the front desk told us we could not because the hotel was full. We tried again the next day to change rooms at midday, but were told we could not because the housekeeping staff leaves at 1 pm. We tried again the next morning and were given a room with mold around the AC unit, at which point we decided to check out. The front desk had to contact the manager to discuss a refund for the remainder of our reservation. At first the manager told me that he could not refund the amount because we had booked an extended rate. He offered me yet another room, but I declined since I didn’t think things would be any better in another room. I indicated that I was willing to pay the going rate for the three nights we had stayed to which the manager agreed. At no point did the manager apologize for the room conditions or offer me any consolation. He only seemed to want his money. While I did receive a refund, I was also charged an early checkout fee. Word to the wise, I strongly recommend staying elsewhere. The rest of the stay was uneventful, but overshadowed by the deplorable guest room conditions.
