Sierra Beachfront Motel

Arrived at the unit mid afternoon. The unit was clean yet very tired looking. Wifi was good yet, not password protected. The TV was quite a distance from the bed so watching TV in bed wasn't really an option. The bed was comfortable. Water pressure was very bad. The curtains weren't backed and weren't suitable. Night light was on until 10.30pm each night, and with the bad curtains, then light shone thru. Unit is not suitable for elderly or people with disabilities as the unit is about 90 cm off the ground with no steps. You can walk further down and walk past the other units. The fact you can not dry your hair with the towels provided is a tad strange. I don't recommend staying here.

A simple, comfortable motel that was a good place to stop on our journey north. Shower worked well. Nice to have a seperate seating area to watch TV, read a book, etc. Only complaint - previous occupant had put the coffee mugs away rinsed but obviously not washed. Was surprised that this had not been checked by staff.

Clean, comfortable, convenient, and friendly. It is right across the street from the beach and walking track, our room was nice and quiet. We felt it was a good value for the money and would happily stay again!

This is a basic motel and we guess adequate for its price. The beds are comfy enough and it has a modern shower. However cleanliness is rather remiss. There were hairs on the floor, stains down the bedside drawer, the oven was filthy and the kitchen very old and tired. The note on the fridge stating in bold letters that clients will be fined if the dishes are not washed and dried was appalling. This should be the responsibility of hosts to ensure they are done appropriately between guests as there is no guarantee previous guest did this well. This is very questionable infection control. Hosts were not at all friendly. Limited charging/power outlets.

HOST DID NOT CARE AT ALL. WOULDN'T SEND ME BOOKING DETAILS. JUST ASKED OUR $150 PAYMENT BEFORE GIVING US UNIT KEY AND NUMBER SAYING NOTHING ELSE. THOUGHT WE PAID FOR GOOD ROOM WITH FULL KITCHEN. UNIT WAS GRUBBY EVERYWHERE.SMALL KITCHEN ONLY WITH MICROWAVE. BATH ROOM DRAIN HOLE CAKED IN OLD GRIME AND DIRTY DOOR AND FLOOR . COUCH WAS RIPPED, VERY DUSTY AND HAD SMEARS AND SPLATTERS EVERYWHERE.SPLATS ON KITCHEN WALLS,DIRTY LIGHT, FITTINGS AND DOORS. ONE TOWEL WAS GREY AND HARD OTHER WHITE FLUFFY. 2 HANGERS ON A WALL HOOK FOR CLOTHES . SUBSTANDARD,SLACK AND UNHYGIENIC UNIT WAS EXPENSIVE AND UNFRIENDLY COMPARED TO HANMER OR CHRISTCHURCH MOTELS. WE ARE AN OLDER COUPLE DOING OUR FIRST RD TRIP. WE LOST OUR HOME IN QUAKES SO POST QUAKE ISN'T AN EXCUSE NOR IS BEING A TOURIST SPOT. SPOILT OUR STAY AND MADE KAIKOURA LOOK BAD.

Great place, excellent value for money, the room was clean and tidy, a bit dated. Staff/owner was very happy and pleasant. I will certainly will be back. Handy to town, beach across just across the road.
