The best thing about Victoria Panorama is the view of Lake Victoria from rooms on the upper level of the building closest to the lake. The second positive is the meeting room which we used for a number of weeks. It is large and airy (but we had to bring our own projector and there was zero support in setting the room up). The bedrooms were clean enough and the bedding was decent quality. Beyond that it's hard for me to say anything positive about this hotel. I was lucky enough to have hot water. Many complained they did not. I do know that our large group had a good price, however I just want to make it clear to people that this is not a tourist hotel. I have stayed at cheap hostels with far far better service / food / security. Staff are not being supported by management. Indeed, I did not meet any managers during my four night stay, only inadequately trained staff who were trying to cater for our big group of 20 plus people. A list of specific complaints: There was no drinking water in any of the rooms at any point. Every time we wanted water, we had to ask someone for it. Although there was a bar, I don't think it had any stock. It wasn't open. The WiFi was useless. (I relied on my own data). There was no choice at mealtimes and we were fed the same menu again and again. We rarely had vegetables. I don't recall ever being offered salad. All the dirty dinner plates were left unwashed in the kitchen all night. The cockroaches were - unsurprisingly - HUGE. I couldn't shut the doors on my balcony. Nor could I lock my room when inside it. (I put a chair against the door to secure it). Apart from the lack of security, it meant that I was inundated with mosquitoes. My room had one of these king size "bling bling" mosquito nets. It looked fancy but did not fit around the bed! Therefore I had zero protection from mosquitoes. I barely slept... #diaryofamuzungu #EastAfricaTravelDirectory
