Jaco Laguna Resort & Beach Club

The location is good and the comun areas nice but the rooms are very dark, ugly and poor. There is no place for dry the clothes in a beach hotel 😔 I think that the price is very expensive and the quality very low. I will not repeat here. In Jaco there are better options.

Beyond disappointing!!! They need to update their pictures … The rooms have bare necessities, clean but sadly no hot water at all!! The worst part is that they closed at 9pm and you have no way to get in touch with anyone. No elevator, so be prepared to hike up three floors if they put you at the top. No one available to help either. I’m beyond frustrated, wish the reviews were more real so people can make better informed decisions

Beautiful junior suite facing ocean. So nice to sit on balcony and listen to ocean. Unfortunately to hot to leave doors open at night but you could still hear waves from our comfy bed with doors closed. Rooms were clean and sterile upon arrival. Pool spacious with comfy loungers. About a mile walk to town (walking on beach) where there are plenty of shops and restaurants. We loved that it wasn’t close to town (in our 60’s) but it was a nice walk for coffee in morning (Uber at night). On site restaurant was excellent. Large menu and the fish was fresh. Very nice portions. Front desk were courteous and very helpful, arranged snorkeling trip and transportation. Felt safe at resort and the area it was in ( try brewery around corner).

This was our first time at Jaco Laguna Resort and we loved it. We enjoyed our time there and the kids did not want to leave. The food at the restaurant was amazing. Krissia was very helpful with the menu, attentive, accommodating and with good suggestions. I had a dish with steak and my wife had a dish with shrimp. Our 4 kids had hamburgers with fries and they were delicious as well. Thank you Krissia! We will make sure we will recommend this beautiful jewel to our friends visiting Costa Rica and we will go back again on our next trip to Costa Rica.

What a dump! Definitely not a "4-star resort", maybe when it was new, but those days are long past! Getting the easiest stuff out of the way, the only pro of this property is the location right on the beach, that is no lie. Now for everything else. The biggest con is the service, the front desk employee almost could not be bothered to check us in. A sign saying out to lunch greeted us when we arrived. Ten minutes later, a woman sitting not more than 10 yards away gets up from a dinner table, removes the sign, and checks us in. After she is done, she puts the sign back up and goes back to surfing her phone at the nearby dinner table! No elevators at this property, so either pack light or ask for a room on the lower floors. The rooms are spartan for a "4-star". Many of the fixtures in the tiny bathroom were broken off and missing. There is no bathtub. The safe did not work as the batteries were leaking. And there was only one set of threadbare towels in the room even though the reservation was for two. Even though the resort is on the beach and that's its only selling point (IMHO) they do nothing to capitalize on that. No beach towels for you to use. If you get sand on their pool or room towels you will get fined. Only surfboards to rent. No specified area for specifically for hotel guests

I’ve only had two interactions with front desk staff and both young people were very pleasant. My biggest issue is with the restaurant staff. Literally the worst service I’ve ever received in 25 years of coming to Costa Rica. There are three main servers who neither smile, acknowledge you, say thank you or you’re welcome. They don’t smile unless it’s to each other. At first I thought they were having a bad day but they’ve had three consecutive bad days. Slow service is to be expected in Costa Rica. It’s actually something I enjoy as long as it’s pleasant. I brought it to the attention of the front desk but she just smiled and apologized. I have a feeling that she’s heard this many times before.

DO NOT reserve a room at this hotel if you may need to change plans and get a refund!! Originally scheduled in June, and canceled in August, it is now JANUARY, and we are still going back and forth about my refund. So ridiculous. I am now undergoing cancer treatments, and could really use my money for something real....like medical bills. This has to change.

Defintiely not a 4.5 star resort, maybe for its location, but the resort itself is old and dated and the service was terrible. The staff are more interested in their phones than anything else. This became obvious when we arrived at the hotel looking to check in. A sign said "back in 10 minute," so I walk across the lobby to use the restroom, passing a girl sitting at a table using her phone. I get back to the front desk and wait, after about 10 minutes the girl on her phone walks to the front desk, takes down the sign, and proceeds to check us in. After checking in, the girls puts the sign back up and goes back to phone! Unbelievable. No elevators in this 3 - story "resort," so ask for a room on the lower floors if you have a lot of luggage. The room was spartan, the room safe didn't work due to corroded batteries, there was only one towel (even the reservation was for two people), the bathroom itself was tiny, with only a small shower, many of the fixtures in the bathroom had broken off and were never replaced, The location of the hotel is right on the beach, which is great. But that's where it ends. The hotel has very little to offer to guests who want to enjoy the beach. The hotel towels are strictly forbidden to be taken to the beach. There is no designated area on the beach for hotel guests, no beach chairs, etc. There are surfboards to use/rent at the hotel, but if you have a small child, then you're SOL. There is supposed to be an attendant at the gate entry to the parking area, but actually there is just a phone number to call after hours for someone to open the gate.

Loved the stay at Jaco Laguna Resort and Beach Club. Very authentic Resort. The staff was very friendly and especially want to acknowledge Stephen at the front desk. He was exceptional. The beds were very comfortable. The Resort was clean. The view to the ocean was beautiful. Room prices were very reasonable. Had a great stay and would definitely go again. Tom and Sandy Tillery
