Courtyard Canton

I really wanted to give a better rating but the only reason I'm able to give this hotel 3 stars is because the staff was AMAZING. The front desk staff, bistro staff, bartender and housekeepers were so friendly, welcoming, and did the best they could with the resources they are given. A few things I wish I knew before chosing to stay here: 1) The credit card machines only work at the front desk - at the bar or bistro you need to pay cash or put it on the room. 2) My mothers room (105) didn't close unless you pulled hard to shut it, we learned this the hard way by being out all day then coming back to an open door. 3) The washer / dryer are really old & when I asked for quarters at the front desk they didn't have any quarters (or change). So I had to drive to a laundry mat to do the 1 load of laundry. 4) The key pad on the gym/pool aren't working so it's just open for whoever. 5) There was an overall smell of smoke in the entire hotel. 6) Not the biggest issue but I was looking for water and the desk was out of water and the bar / bistro were closed. My fault for not bringing a bottle of water with me. Again, the staff was amazing. My mother loved the puzzle in the lobby! I was just surprised Marriott permitted the Courtyard Canton to be a Marriott brand hotel.

Can’t say enough good things about this hotel, spacious room, lounge area with pool table and games, outdoor space with greenery, tables, grills, a large indoor pool and hot tub. The staff made our stay so enjoyable, getting to know my family by name, and gladly helping us as we navigated the area with friends and family. If I’m back in Canton, will definitely return here.

We got there almost an hour after check-in time, and our room was not ready yet. The lady behind the desk was awesome though. We got a suite, so it was the only one left. She apologized and immediately called housekeeping to see if they could stop and do it. So we just sat down and hung out in the lobby on the couch, and after about 15 to 20 minutes, she said it was ready. She apologized again and told us she would buy us a drink or a snack out of the little market because of the wait. We encountered her again when we were coming back from dinner and she was still awesome; and you just get to talking to her like she's a friend you've known forever. Our room was clean and comfortable. Air conditioner was working fine and everything else. Needs a little bit of updating, but nothing bad. The only con is they use standard size pillows on a king size bed. If you roll over, there's no pillow underneath of you anymore. So you have to wake up to move your pillow. That's a pretty easy fix though. Other than hearing people's doors close, it was quiet. We were going to stop at the bar and have a drink after dinner but the bartender left early as there were no customers. Check out was super easy, they emailed me a folio during the night, and the girl was super nice then too. We also encountered the cleaning lady when we went to our room and she was super nice and apologized over and over again for not having the room done yet. I don't know that I'll ever have a need to stay in this area again, but I certainly do recommend it to others.

This Courtyard is showing its age. Bathroom smelled like must, carpets stained, Ac/heating unit barely worked in my room. The staff is friendly. There is no "lounge", just the bar/restaurant area. Fitness center is old, but fine for a quick workout. I would personally not come back due to the lack of upkeeping and modernization.

March madness. All TVs are broken…. So NO games displayed. Bar tender is 100 year old. …. What the heck…. Think she didn’t want to share tips. Staff appropriate if needed.. for the needed customers. Didn’t appreciate the fact they they gave us option of small TVs in the booths…. We had a BIG group.

Our room was very nice, quiet and clean! The Marriott beds are my favorite! The hotel staff offered wonderful service! We enjoyed sitting at the bar having some drinks with friends! I love the location of this hotel, close to lots of shopping and restaurants!

My son and I were visiting the football HOF for our joint Birthdays. This was supposed to be a trip to remember. It definitely was but not in a good way after my stay at this location. I was put in a room that had been made up but not with clean sheets. When I laid down I discovered my bed was wet and had been urinated in. I was in a state of disbelief that a Marriot would do such a thing. Once I bought it to the front desk attention I was moved from a room with two Queen beds to a room with one king bed. My adult son and I had no choice but to share a bed as that is all the accommodations that were being offered. I was mislead to believe the General Manager would speak with me the next day to address it. That was a lie as apparently she doesn't work on weekends. I left my phone number for her to call me On Monday when she was back in to discuss this incident. Four weeks later after leaving multiple messages I still have not been contacted by the GM. I guest she is too busy to apologize to a guest for the inconvenience or to offer reasonable compensation. I would not recommend this location to anyone as their putting guest health at risk with unsanitary practices. They're too unprofessional to address issues with dissatisfied guest.

Cloe at the front desk was very helpful and kind. She made wonderful suggestions where to eat near the hotel. The hotel is showing signs of age, for example, the popcorn ceiling in our room had a popcorn ceiling that was cracking and the bathroom counter area was chipped. The queen sized bed was lumpy. Our room was clean and quiet. This hotel does not have a complimentary breakfast.

This review is based on my two-night weekday business stay from 21 Sep to 23 Sep 2022. Quality, service and attention to detail at the Courtyard Marriott, Canton OH lacks the attention to detail expected from the Marriott brand. Upon arrival, there was no recognition of my Gold membership status, which set the tone for the remainder of my stay. As a gold member with complementary room upgrades, I was hoping for a nicer room, especially since the hotel had low occupancy (based on the handful of cars in the parking lot). Unfortunately, I was checked into room 624 and was sorely disappointed. Room 624 was dated, sad, and tired. The carpet stained, the furniture broken, and the bathroom fixtures rusting out. Interestingly, my business colleagues - both who are not Marriott members, we’re placed into recently updated rooms. On the 22nd I left my room at about 8:30 AM, grabbed breakfast and attended a business meeting. Upon my 5PM return, I was surprised to find that my room had not yet been cleaned. Despite this, I ran out for a 6PM business dinner, and upon my 11 PM return that same evening, I was surprised to find the room was still not cleaned. No fresh towels (mine were on the bathroom floor at this point), no coffee refill, and the bed not made. This was both unexpected and disappointing - especially considering that I was out of the room for the majority of the day. The room has a small convenience fridge and the hum from the motor was distracting when trying to sleep. In hindsight, I should have pulled the cord and gotten a better night’s rest. At the time of checkout, nobody inquired about my stay and I got the impression that nobody quite cares. I did give this hotel a few points for the airy lobby, newer hallway carpets, and a relatively comfortable bed. I don’t recommend that gold members, or anyone expecting a modern room with daily room service, stay at the Marriott Courtyard. Next time I visit Canton Ohio, I’ll stay at the Springhill Suites, which is a newer property directly next door.
