The Wick, Hudson, a Tribute Portfolio Hotel

Booked a junior suite - after the check-in realized the photos you see on the Marriott Bonvoy site - do not match what is provided by the hotel - the abrasive and abrupt Front Desk clerk blamed that on Marriott - although the rooms are spacious - the junior suite does not come with the claw foot bathtub as pictured just a walk-in shower - there’s no chair in the bedroom as pictured - and there is no dresser or any type of storage unit with a drawer that you can use other than the closet - the clerk did offer to provide extra hangers. So plan on living out of your suitcase - we ended up using the window sill - see picture. Be aware many of the rooms are on the first floor and are fishbowls to people passing by. This hotel is off the beaten path as well. I wish I had done more research there appear to be many more charming hotels, right in the town. Having lifetime, platinum plus titanium status meant nothing here.

Somehow whoever remodeled this made it bland and soulless, no character whatsoever. Rooms and bathroom decent size though. Plugs fell out of sockets. I would have given it 2 stars but the beds were fantastic. Location wasn't bad but basically you are surrounded by a gravel parking lot. Limited and mediocre food. Wish I had done more research before I reserved this. Definitely at the low end of Marriotts

This was the specified hotel for a wedding held in Hudson. It seemed fabulously expensive, but was walking distance to the wedding venue, so I booked it. I was shocked to discover that a $389.00/night group rate for the room was in the basement and had a faux window that opened up to a cement window-well with no actual natural light--the top of the window well was even covered with a solid covering. When I asked at the front desk if perhaps I could get a room that was not a windowless room in the basement, they had none available and conceded that those rooms "were not for everyone" but touted the architect's creativity in converting a former candle factory into an overpriced hotel. That architect, I suspect, was not paying $389/night to sleep in a basement room with a fake window. A manager overheard my conversation with the indifferent front desk staff and attempted to placate me by taking $50/night off my room rate and granting me some extra Bonvoy points. That was something, but still, $339/night for a hotel in a town like Hudson, with no facilities other than a small gym, felt like highway robbery. Especially after I experienced a fall in the tub/shower in the bathroom, which had an exceptionally slippery floor with no treads or rubber bath mate. Again, when I reported my fall to the front desk and asked for a rubber bath mat, I was greeted with indifference (though when the room was serviced, a mat did appear). When I checked out the following day,and again expressed shock at the price charged for a room with no window, and again mentioned my slip and fall in the bath the day prior, I was also offered a voucher for a free breakfast. The overlay of Williamsburgh in Hudson has clearly justified all sorts of crazy prices, but this is not a hotel that can justify these crazy prices. And they really ought to equip every room--not just those of people who complain--with bath mats that could minimize the risk of falls in the shower. And they also ought to consider lowering the shower heads so that those under six feet tall might be able to adjust the shower heads.

Eclectic and fun. Nicest place to stay in that part of the Hudson Valley. Food and service was good. Staff were friendly and helpful. It was a ways from downtown but close to the river. Kind of a weird location and GPS brings you down a weird street. Hudson is trying to make a comeback, I'm told.

THE PILLOWS WERE SO FLAT AND THE BEDS ARE SO LUMPY THE ROOMS ARE CLEAN AND SMELL GREAT ..BUT THE GMANGER TAMSIN KELLI IS A RUDE WOMEN YELLING AND USING INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGEWITH THE WORKER AND THE GUEST NEVER BRING YOUR CHILDREN TO THIS HOTEL AS LONG AS MS TAMSIN KELLI WORKS THERE

Good place to stay in Hudson. 10 min walk to Warren St - main shopping & restaurant area. We drove to restaurants for dinner & didn't have any trouble with street parking. Train whistles at all hours didn't bother us - kind of quirky! Rooms are small, but comfortable & clean. Breakfast was better than some of the prior reviewers said - no problem with food or service. Be aware that many restaurants & shops aren't open Mon-Wed or Ths. Good alternative for breakfast - Bob's Restaurant (10 min drive). Missed Cross St the first time. I'll blame the GPS. Plenty of parking.

Very cool place. Not your typical rooms because it’s a refurbished factory space, but they did an amazing job. My room was “first floor” which was really basement at the end of building, with just a high-up window that’s ground-level on the outside. But we were traveling with our 2 dogs, so being down there was actually perfect - came & went via side door with our big pups. Great service, decent food at the restaurant. Artwork & friendliness of staff - impeccable.

A modern hotel in a building that used to be a candle factory hence the name “wick”. We were happy that we were moved to a better room as the first room we checked into was a bit small, faced another building and had a huge furnace like tall platform that covered half of the window. The second room was spacious, bright, and had floor to ceiling windows with a view of the Catskills mountains and the train station. Nice bed, pillows were a little too soft. Nice large bathroom. Free bottled water in the room was appreciated! Along with our move to a better room, we were also offered free breakfast which was a lovely gesture. Breakfast was simple - eggs to order, cereals, Greek yogurt parfait, egg white frittata etc. A suggestion for breakfast, provide real mugs/cups for coffee or tea and not paper cups. It’s good to have a tea and coffee counter with paper cups to go but not when one is having a sit down breakfast. I was surprised to see that. If it is not part of the room or added on as complementary, I would recommend going to a nice cafe or a restaurant as it’s not worth the price. All in all good stay. Great location, 2 blocks from Warren street where all the shops and restaurants are. Staff welcoming and friendly.

DO NOT STAY HERE! Their ground level rooms have no windows, and you will be hearing chairs dragging, heavy objects falling, constant footsteps until VERY LATE AT NIGH, 2AM and only to START AGAIN AT 5AM! I asked to move rooms and the person on the front. desk told me they were sold out, although their website still had rooms open to book? The bathroom had urine stains on the door (hoping that was from a pet not human, see pictures) In the morning I asked for a refund because there is no way my room should be rentable, the noise is out of control. The lady at the desk was very nice and told me she could only offer a 20% refund and points. I said ok, I got the a few points but never the refund. That same day, I emailed Marriott to share about my stay and ask for a full refund, they followed up with an email the hotel would get back to me, I have now sent three email follow ups and no one has responded to me. DO NOT STAY THERE, AND BE AWARE OF MARRIOTT, they clearly don't care about customer service.
