King Sitric

We stayed here because it was a very easy ride to the airport the following morning and because Howth is a lovely little place to end our Ireland trip. Good value for money. The breakfast was excellent. Views are outstanding and the appointments were really good, with proper tea and coffee making facilities. Beds were comfortable Decor was a little dated and looks in need of a paint job Food in the seafood bar was top notch

We had 2 nights in Ireland before our trip to Sardinia & wanted something different from Dublin. A friend suggested Howth. It was a perfect alternative & a short 25 minutes from the airport. There were limited options for hotels & we chose King Sitric. It was a really nice big room overlooking the harbor & sea. Very clean & comfortable as well. We had a great lunch at the fish market & they have amazing hiking trails up and around the village. Kind of reminded me of a smaller version of cliffs of Moar! I highly recommend this village & hotel if you’re looking to avoid the hustle and bustle of Dublin for a couple of days!

We stayed in a family room on the top floor which was huge with a large bathroom and views from the bed straight out to sea - just gorgeous. Breakfast is completely delicious - try the haddock and poached eggs and the family are really helpful. We managed to park outside on a very busy sunny August day with some luck. Howth itself is really beautiful and we enjoyed local walks and seafood.

A very solid choice if you're doing Dublin. It's a ten minute walk to the DART station from where it's a 5 Euro, 25 minute ride into the heart of Dublin (Pearse Station). And an easy half hour to the airport. Free parking was easy to find every time right near the hotel. The fun surprise for us was how interesting Howth (pronounced like "both") is. It's on a lovely peninsula with old buildings, beautiful views from some of the nearby drives, and lots of good restaurants - including a fabulous seafood meal at King Sitric! The hotel is right (and I mean right) on the ocean. From our second floor room (Mine Head) the view was all water and we could hear the waves at night. The location is very quiet at night. Our room had a quite firm, but very comfortable, bed, adequate hanging space, adequate drawer space, good linens and a very large, modern bathroom. The room was not large, but large enough. Breakfasts from the buffet were adequate - fruit, yogurt, cereal, cheeses, coffee or tea and juice. They also offered nice mad- to-order hot dishes from a menu for 3-7 Euros. We loved walking along the ocean sidewalk right outside the door over to a very large harbor with pleasure boats and really huge commercial fishing boats. One nice touch is that the housekeeping staff will do laundry for (if I remember right) 20 Euros per bag. After a week in France we had two bags worth. Everything was perfectly washed and dried and either hung up or folded like origami. All in all, a great laidback location with easy access to Dublin. Everyone connected with the hotel was helpful, friendly (and talkative).

Great accommodations with nice views of the ocean and Ireland Eye. Walking distance to everything including local shops and markets, museums, the beach, hiking, restaurants, train station and boat trips. Also less than 40 minutes from Dublin Airport. The room was clean, spacious with tea and coffee facilities and bathroom. The breakfast was hearty and delicious, with a selection of fruit, cereals and hot food. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We had dinner more than once in the restaurant which was excellent and very convenient.

Wow, wow is what I can say to start of my review of the King Stric Seafood Bar & Accommodation in Howth Ireland. First off the flight there was great, uneventful and easy. The Dublin airport was devoiced of anything at first, just a big airport. You walk thru the airport to the street and grab a taxi to take you anywhere you’d like. So, we grabbed a taxi and headed to Howth. The drive showed us that its good we didn’t rent a car as traffic was bad and driving on the left would have been a challenge. Arriving at the King Stric was like walking into an Irish home, warm and inviting and that we were family. The front desk lady, (I say that because we are bad with names), was perfect and very helpful, checking us in an telling us about all the places to go and what to do an see. This was just the beginning of why and how we fell in love with the Irish people and the country. Our room, Oyster island is amazing! It has very large windows that open your view to of the Howth pier, bay an harbor of Howth and the light house, (cria 1817) absolutely fantastic! The sunsets and rises that you can see are beautiful. We walked down the street From the King Stric soaking up all that is Ireland, from the West pier, (where there are quite a few restaurants and a few shops) to the East pier where it ends at the lighthouse. Walking up the main street there are several more restaurants with McNeills being one of our favorites, as they have locals play traditional music on most Wednesdays, a perfect evening for sure. Cynthia and myself Bryon came to Ireland to see Green Day in concert in Marley Park. Not the greatest view of the stage as the land slopes away, but with the jumbotrons, it works and it was a great time. Everyone there was super friendly and very helpfully. Getting to the park was a challenge, using the Dart, Lucs, and bus there and back, but not worrying much, as when we didn’t know where to go, asking anyone on the street came with smiles, laughter and helpful info. (the Irish people are so kind and big hearted). We spent a total of 6 days in Ireland with two of those in Dublin, checking out some of the sites. Dublin is a big bustling city with lots to see and do, but the sheer volume of people made it a challenge and we spent most of our time in Howth. The end of our time in Ireland came to quickly, as we would love to have stayed forever, (not rich so back to work for us), Our take aways from this trip are the Irish people, they are amazingly friendly, kindhearted. Everyone at the King Stric was all of this and more, with talking to us, asking questions, both ways to taking the time to getting to know us and we them. The King Stric will be our jumping off point in Ireland every time we visit.

We have stayed at this fabulous hotel previously and this visit was just as good as our last. The welcome from Garret was genuine and welcoming. We had booked a room overlooking Balscadden Bay, which was absolutely stunning. Having the window open during the night and being woken by the crashing waves is a noise we could never tire of. Our room was lovely, very comfortable, decorated with a nautical theme. The bed super comfy with quality bedding, the bathroom well equipped and modern, good storage and lots of information in relation to local walks and things to see and do. We enjoyed a couple of drinks in the bar served by delightful staff. Breakfast was fabulous, great choices to please everyone. We enjoyed a well stocked continental buffet and then plaice (locally provided) simply cooked with lemon along with a generous portion of smoked salmon, both served with home made brown bread. An amazing stay from start to finish, we can’t wait to return.
