The Ellie Beach Resort Myrtle Beach, Tapestry by Hilton

The hotel has made a dramatic transformation adding an amazing water slide complex and resort pool. Probably the best combination of aquatic features and ocean in the grand strand. The new rooms are well done and loves the double king beds. Great for families and a unique feature. With the room so close to the pool and the pier we didn’t have to walk far at all for any activities. The food was also a standout. Would highly recommend the shrimp tacos.

Fantastic property all around! Room, restaurant, employees, facility use, check in. Staycation and we never left the premises! Noah and Eric at the desk were friendly, courteous, helpful. Donna at Ocean Blue Restaurant was excellent! We loved the complimentary mini golf and also access to Springmaid Pier. We are already looking into booking again!

Overall impression: Clean, fun, great for families, great views, lots to do, very nice. Balcony/view was great. We will definitely be back. Pros: Staff was friendly and helpful, room was clean and pleasant, view of the ocean/pool area from our balcony was lovely. We booked the double king room and it was great for 2 parents, 2 teens, but next time we might try a larger room to spread out a bit. Enjoyed the pool, slides, access to the pier, foosball in the game area, and of course, the beach itself. We didn't get around to the mini-golf. It's nice and close to Market Commons (driving) so we went to the movie theater and Publix over there. Due to it's location, it's less crowded than the rest of Myrtle Beach, which is ideal for us. The bar/restaurant area has a great view of the ocean and was often busy in the evenings - everything from conferences, vacationers, and travel teams were there. Cons: There are lots of helicopters (nearly constant during the daytime hours) and planes going over due to proximity to the airport. I found it surprising, but not super annoying. If you are looking for a super quiet getaway, this might be an issue for you. If you have kids, you will probably barely notice (haha). We always travel with a white-noise machine, so that helps. We had a little snafu at check-in which delayed our getting settled in a bit, but the staff at the hotel made it right and we were all set within 2 hours of arrival. My advice would be to check the room prior to lugging all of your luggage up from the car. Elevators were struggling a bit, but they did have them all fixed and functional before we left. Note: If you are a beach person but don't want to lug all of the gear, there are rentals available on the beach in front of the hotel - you talk to the lifeguard to rent them. A pair of chairs and an umbrella is $50 a day, they close up at 4 pm. There's another spot by the pier where you can rent SUPs, surfboards, kayaks, sign up for surfing lessons, etc. Next time I want to take advantage of some of that. Also, it's motel style, meaning the doors open to the outside not an interior hallway. That actually ended up being ideal, but I hadn't stayed in that type of room in a long time, so just a heads up on that.

I brought my two kiddos to the Ellie for two nights for my son’s bday. We live in Mount Pleasant so it was a quick trip up! I’ve stayed here a few times over the years since Hilton took over and I have to say they made this building pretty cute and trendy! It’s an older building so guests need to go into it with an open mind and realize it’s not BRAND new. It’s a great refurbished hotel. The weather was iffy the three days we were there and while I understand closing the pools for lightening, when they are reopened there is really no excuse not to open the slides. When you have little kiddos and your room started right at the slides, it’s a bit disappointing, especially when there is a bunch of staff just standing around and could be staffing the slides. The slides finally opened the morning of our departure so my kids got about an hour of that THANKFULLY. Restaurant was very good, Arsen our waiter was really great! Jeff the bartender I think has worked there for a while because I recognized him from last visit and was great as always! Last but not least, Eric at the front desk was absolutely amazing. He was always working when I had to visit the desk, whether it be to get my keys remade, checkin and checkout, get change etc, he was always a pleasure! Thanks for the great short trip, my son really enjoyed his 5th birthday!

The hotel is in the midst of a renovation and still a construction site. In addition, the key card system didn’t work during our 3 days stay and we had to go to the front desk 9 times to get new key cards. Nobody felt the urge to say sorry for the hassle. In addition, the hotel is not new as advertised but more of a Jerry rigged high price hotel. The worst problem for me was that nobody (neither front desk staff nor management) seems to care…
