Holiday Inn Portland West - Hillsboro

Didn’t get a chance to check out the amenities but the hotel itself and the rooms are very nice.

Hotel might be fine for single residents who have no possibility of itinerary changes, but horrible for duos, groups or any possible change of plans. Management will manipulate company policy at the cost of its guests, even when the policy does not make sense given the context. Deposits are not clearly laid out in billing and will be charged immediately after announcing possible scheduling changes. We don't expect much from hotels and very rarely raise issues. When they happen we prefre to do so personally, so the issue can be resolved there and then. We like to find solutions and do not expect that we live consequence free. Deposits are there for a reason and policies are important. The policies of this hotel are worded poorly and do not cover all booking options to the detriment of consumers. When we first arrived at the hotel, the woman behind the counter was critical and rude. Despite calling earlier and being welcomed to check-in early due to the heat wave (we didn't want our luggage to be fried in the car), the woman nearly turned us away. Then it was announced that only two guests could receive breakfast and expected to pay an extra $16 per person, no thanks for what is a simple contenential breakfast. Be prepared to eat under scrutiny for the two guests that do use the breakfast. Note that the theme here is “Nickel and Diming”. $16 a head for a mediocre breakfast, majorly overpriced sodas in the "convenience store", plue the $10 parking per night in a largely unused parking lot. The bathroom is so poorly thought out as were the wheels on the barn door. Prepare to smell and hear all of your roommate’s sounds and smells, not to mention the giant frosted window that grants no privacy and awakes everyone with its intense light. My only other complaint was the corner chair near the window. It is completely useless as the shade disallows anyone to sit there over about 4 feet tall. The rest of the room was fine, in fact the pillows were great. Halfway through the trip, we packed our bags and took a planned break from the hotel for a couple days. We had planned to return a few days later according to our itinerary; however, due to a route change, we decided it might be better to book another hotel further south to save several hours of our trip. NOT A GOOD IDEA WITH THIS HOTEL!!! In looking up the downsides to our possible decision to cancel, we researched our terms and conditions. Between emails, online, etc. the policy to cancel could range from a loss of deposit for anywhere from 24-72 hours notice (whatever suits the Holiday Inn the best). The best we could tell was the email confirmation clearly stated that cancellation would result in the loss of our deposit, which we had not been charged to date. Confused, we contacted the hotel and asked what our deposit was and no employee could tell us. Finally, one told call us back after asking the manager. We stayed here for one night and booked through the Capital one Travel portal. We were told during our check in process that they will be holding one night stay as a deposit and will be crediting that money back to my capital one credit card after our check out. This hotel never credited this money back to my Credit card. Multiple calls were made to this hotel. I was told that they refunded this deposit back to my credit card, which they never did. I spoke with the hotel manager who told me to send them our original booking receipt, which we submitted, but I never got a response from them nor I received my money back. Be careful before deciding to stay here. I am going to report them for a fraud.

We enjoyed our brief one-night stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and well-appointed, and the staff is top-notch. We did have a minor billing hiccup but nothing that wasn't resolved quickly and that didn't detract from our stay. We really do have to give a shoutout to the staff. The area was suffering after a major winter storm, with lots of ice and power outages. The front desk agent that checked us in was super friendly and very efficient. We even got cookies, as IHG members, woohoo! If there's any quibble with the hotel, it's the restaurant. The food was only so-so, but the staff was again, incredibly friendly and efficient. We'd definitely stay here again, no problem.

We stayed here for two nights and travelled all the way from Canada, paying a considerable sum to stay here. We had the worst sleep ever due to the uncomfortable beds that have large dips on either side of the mattress and no matter what we did, we could not get comfortable. It’s unfortunate, as we were both tired for the family reunion. I’ve read other reviews who said the same thing, so the hotel is very aware that the beds need to be replaced. It’s a shame because Holiday Inn is normally our go to. We also wish that there was fresh coffee, which would have been nice with our lack of sleep. We are IHG members and do not want to taint all holiday Inns, as the one in Marysville, Washington was the absolute best stay ever on our way to Portland.

I was not able to even make my trip out to Portland unfortunately. I lost my job and had to cancel. I was a day late in cancelling my booking (fee free), and contacted the hotel by phone to ask if there was anything that could be done about the fee. I was greeted with a very rude voice that simply said, "We don't refund fees at all." I didn't get a friendly anything from this location. While I'm sure my stay would have been nice, front desk needs work.

It's a nice place, but didn’t like the idea that you have to pay $10 for parking and $16 for a breakfast. Watch out for the extra fees. Room was clean and fairly comfortable. I probably wouldn’t stay again.

This is a beautiful, newer hotel in great location, but lacking in so many ways. The king room with a pull out bed is what we were given at check-in because they said they were out of two queen bed options. The line at check-in was ridiculous and third person. Checking us in seemed completely overwhelmed. I slept on the out sofa bed and it is probably the worst mattress I have ever slept on in my entire life. It was literally like sleeping on a boxspring. I chose this hotel because I am an IHG member and credit card holder and the hotel had a full restaurant and bar. When we arrived, the bar wasn’t open and when we went to get breakfast on Sunday morning at 9 AM we were told that “ there wasn’t very much left”. It was buffet style at $16 per person, and really didn’t offer anything more than a continental breakfast at the Holiday Inn Express down the road. The staff was extremely rude, and almost seemed to be pushing us away from eating there. There is no snack bar, and they nickel & dime you for everything, even parking in a huge parking lot. The decor is nice and the rooms were quiet. There are many other hotel options in the area to choose from, so I would steer clear of this one.
