Travelodge Haverhill

The hotel could do with an update but it provides a comfortable bed for the night with a good amount of parking in an easy to reach location. The hotel room and bathroom could do with a better clean, the window latch was broken and the kettle wasn’t clean. Struggled to tell any staff as I couldn’t find anyone (no one seemed to be at reception). On 1 night out of 3, I felt a bit unsafe as a solo female guest as my room was surrounded by a few rooms with a rowdy party of guys and the door felt like it could open with a heavy hand! Perhaps the hotel could look at where these larger parties are put in relation to other guests? Maybe closer to Reception so they can keep an eye? This hotel doesn’t have quiet floors, it is just lucky if you have quiet guests!

Lovely 3-night stay on the beautiful Suffolk/Essex border. Little dated but reasonably priced. Food available if required.

Staying here due to work commitments nearby, had a 9 week stay mid from October and currently back doing another 8-9 week stay, Having to stay here as my employer books our rooms…. I don’t think once i have had a decent room, all consist of some or all of the following, filthy carpets, bathrooms are mouldy, drains blocked, toilets don’t flush, dirt on floor….The list is endless. Worst hotel i’ve stay in due to work….would never use this chain of hotel if i had a choice.

First off, the bed was clean. The location is handy for us when visiting family, we’ve stayed before and had no complaints, so obviously returned. This time was different. Arrived at 3.10pm, nobody turned up for 5 minutes, but then checked in ok. Fortunately we got 2 card keys, because one didn’t work. The room itself didn’t seem clean, but I think it also needed a heavy dose of maintenance. The window catch was very wobbly, so the radiator kept flashing a red ‘window open’ message. The bathroom was filthy. There was no soap in either dispenser and the one by the sink was broken anyway. The shower had grey lines all round the base, and there was something unmentionable smeared on the tiles between the toilet and the mirror. We were only there one night to attend a family party (at another location) and as we only live 1.5 hours away, we left in the morning, drove home and showered - I think I’d have felt dirtier if I’d used that bathroom. It’s cheap, and convenient, but I think I’ll shop around next time we have an overnight in Haverhill.

We stayed here for 7 days visiting family and can't complain about anything. Staff are always helpful and cheerful and anything you need for your room is supplied right away.

Arrived here on Boxing Day afternoon. Reception area & cafe was clean & tidy but no one at reception. Lady who eventually came to chef us in was very perfunctory in her greeting & info given. Room very tired. No hand soap in bathroom dispenser, sink tap not fixed in place & wobbled about when used. Flooring in bathroom very old & tatty. Didn’t look clean. Heater in room was not effective. After a couple of hours poor sleep due to the chill in the room & noise of boy racers outside we decided to get up & leave early without breakfast. Guy preparung the breakfast happened to be around as we were leaving. Very helpful & amiable man. Directed us to take away coffee cups & prebaked croissants so we were able to take away a breakfast even though breakfast service hadn’t quite started. This chap should be front of house or teach reception staff a thing or two about customer service or just general people skills.
