Le Pavillon de St Agnan

Great cattle and gites for a short or long holiday 2 heated pools, games room social games for kids, bicycles to ride, a lot of books, and walking distance to restaurants, lakes, and a chateau of Hautefort. Great place for families to relax and enjoy beautiful dorgdone.

Spent 2 nights in one of the Gites based on recommendation of family who were there a few years ago. We were the only guests. The grounds and buildings are lovely, just like the website. But the place is just a little run down. The gite we were in had a musty smell. It was a bit dark inside and there wasn't really any place to slouch around outside the gite (other than the pool). The kitchen was basic and not well equipped. Tea Pot but no kettle, barbeque but no tongs etc. But it was clean, and beds were all comfortable. The village is lovely. Non touristy, slow, with a few boulangeries, a restaurant and nearby supermarket. We walked through the village and forest to Hautefort castle/chateau which is worth seeing. The caves at nearby Tortillac (spelling?) are breathtaking - really worth a visit. The owner/manager was very friendly and gave great advice in perfect English. He had the most skittish setter dog that took a while to get near to (food helps). It was one of the more reasonably priced places we stayed in France. Most previous reviews are good but a little dated. I wonder what happened between 2019 and now? Maybe this place struggled during Covid and hasn't quite got back to its former glory? It looks like they have a new fancy website so maybe this is a start of a new chapter.

Deze accommodatie was in het verleden wellicht de moeite waard, maar is momenteel echt niet meer aan verhuren toe. Wij verbleven in gite 3. Het toilet op het gelijkvloers werkte niet, ook de deurklink was afgebroken. De vaatwasmachine werkte pas nadat we deze zelf helemaal hadden gereinigd (sproeiarmen zaten compleet verstopt). Er was onvoldoende servies (geen kopjes, te weinig glazen). Er waren onvoldoende hoofdkussens. Daarnaast was de gite ook echt niet proper. We hebben zelf schoongemaakt bij aankomst. Er was geen WIFI, geen airco (stond wel op de website).De droogtrommel werkte niet, 1 van de 2 wasmachines was stuk. Het kinderzwembad kon niet gebruikt worden wegens defecte pomp. De rand van het grote zwembad kwam los. De tuinstoelen aan het zwembad waren bijna allen aan vervanging toe. De parasols waren kapot. De barbecue was overwoekerd met onkruid. Rondom het 'gazon' aan het zwembad lagen hondendrollen van de hond van het domein.... Samengevat: huur deze accommodatie niet vooraleer deze grondig is gerenoveerd.

Malheureusement ces deux nuits furent une très mauvaise expérience, nous étions dans le "cottage", mal isolé, deux nuits dans le froid malgré les chauffages que nous avons allumés en arrivant. La salle de bain est très vieille et dégage une odeur d'égout insupportable ! On ne recommande pas du tout, on a tout de même eu droit a une réduction pour le désagrément mais cela reste bien trop cher pour ce logement.
