21/01/24 1800 check in. I travel for work and I frequently stay in hotels. I booked a room in knights Inn, grand forks and checked in fine. I got to my room and the first thing I did was wash my hands with the soap bar (important later) and proceeded to open my bags. I hadn't seen patterned comforters on beds before in hotels and usually its duvets with covers, so I took a look at the comforter wondering how they kept those clean. As I peeled it back I noticed marks on the bottom sheet and a bump under the sheet between the matress and the sheet which after lifting the fitted sheet up slightly i believed to be a tissue. I thought if the bed was changed that would have been noticed. I took videos and sent to my friends explaining that I may have made a mistake booking here as i was grossed out by the bed but didn't think anything more of it or to take photos as I figured I'd go to the front desk and get the bed changed. Or be given different room. At first I opted for new sheets as to not mess another room but was handed the sheets over the counter which ofcorse, I was not paying for a hotel room and making the bed myself so I said I'd have a new room instead please. This didnt seem to be a problem and a new room was given. I moved my stuff over and returned the keycard and thanked the receptionist and the interaction was polite and I did not think anything else of it. 5 minutes later I hear the receptionist and 2 other workers go to the room I was in (room 145) and they walk by my room raising their voices saying "thanks for using the soap bar and having a face wash, it was a dryer sheet" blatently so i would hear them, so I open the door and politely say "excuse me? Is there a problem" they replied it was a dryer sheet that i saw and the room was fine and the sheets were clean so I apologised for mistaking the dryer sheet for a tissue but the bed sheets were still dirty. She said they were not and I disagreed and said I would happily show her where the dirt was however, to my astonishment as she was walking through the hallway door she says " BYE BYE, GO BACK TO CANADA" I was left confused, disgusted and shocked by the whole interaction as I couldn't understand why using the soap bar to wash my hands was even the slightest part of the conversation. Washing my hands is always the first thing I do when I check in. I would never have complained if those sheets were not dirty and certainly not interested in seeing how many soap bars I can open in different hotel rooms in an evening so I don't know what the heck she was going on about with that. but what i do know is I will never be staying here again and I would advise anyone and everyone reading this to stay well clear. Cleanliness gets a 2/10 Friendliness from staff get a 1/10 Breakfast 2/10 Soap bar gets a 10/10 because clearly that lady thinks I had one hell of a face wash to want to change rooms just for another one. "Go back to Canada" . And the funniest part of it all is... I
