La Quinta Inn & Suites by Wyndham Appleton College Avenue

I travel with a friend about once a year, it's our chance for a little 3 night getaway without our husbands and grown disabled children. This has been our "go to" place to stay. We mostly stay in our room and stitch, so a couple of the changes since our last visit made our experience not as pleasant as in the past. In what seems to be an attempt to modernize, the block windows facing the lobby were drywalled over leaving the living room area very dark and it really changed the ambiance of the room as it felt quite dreary even with all the lights on. The air conditioning units in that front area are apparently not connected anymore (they were most definitely for our last visit as it was the end of June 2022 and quite warm) so this seems to be a new-ish decision and not a good one as that front room was quite warm at times. The carpet was not visibly dirty, but left our feet or socks quite dirty though we didn't do all that much walking around on it. We do love the two-room setup. The bathroom has been refurbished and has a new tub surround, and is in better shape than years past. It now includes the pump bottles of toiletries which is very nice. We also enjoyed having Applebees on one side and Texas Roadhouse on the other, between those and the provided breakfast we didn't need to get back in the car until it was time to leave, which was a good thing because construction made the area a bit difficult to navigate. The beds are wonderful and each bed has 3 pillows. I've had better pillows in hotels, but these were adequate. I suppose for an overnight stay while traveling, it would do the job, but for more than that, I'd stay elsewhere. We plan to find a new location for our next retreat.

Staff were pleasant and professional. There was some construction on the street that made it a little hard to get to the property. Property could use new carpeting.

The staff was friendly however the hotel itself and rooms were not well maintained. The hest registers were full of rust. The carpet in both rooms was stained so bad and had multiple rolls in the carpet. The room was really musty smelling. And the carpet throughout the whole hotel was stained and had multiple rips. Paint on the walls was all chipped also. Not a very pleasant place to stay for the high cost of the rooms.

The hotel is a nice place to stay, I have been staying there for the past 3 years, whenever I am in town. The rooms are nice and clean, roomy, and the beds are comfortable. The internet is good and that is important to me. I like to choice of restaurants right out the front door, Applebee's to the left and Texas Roadhouse to the right. The exercise room left a bit to be desired.

We were so pleased with the customer service when we checked in. Exceptional front desk greeting and service. The accommodations at La Quinta are excellent at a very reasonable price. They offer clean and spacious rooms, and a large continental breakfast area. We will definitely be back!

The Appleton La Quinta was tricky to get into but conveniently off of College Ave and 41. It has plenty of free off-street parking with additional turn around space. It was easy to book online with friendly efficient check-in. We were able to check in early. This is a more traditional La Quinta --a little worn torn but generally clean and policed. An Applebee's Restaurant is connected to the hotel. Nearby is a Texas Roadhouse Chic filet, Panda Express and Freddys. It is accessible to Funset Boulevard, Woodmans and other stores. it is quick drive to the Fox River Mall. There was free reliable password protected Wi-Fi. They actually had chicken and waffles for breakfast with other continental options. The hotel had a free reliable ice machine. Our room was a large suite type room with a self-contained tub and shower and a kitchen area with mini fridge (no freezer section) and a microwave, iron and ironing board and coffeemaker. We had a good queen bed but only 3 pillows. We paid about $95 for the room.

The rooms are very clean and the breakfast was one of the best I have had in some time. The parking lot had a lot to be desired about with pot holes all over. The carpeting in the rooms look to be about 40 years old.

The staff were some of the friendliest people I have ever met, very knowledgeable and very kind. Breakfast is absolutely delicious! The rooms were comfortable and clean.

The late night staff was great. But when you get up and ready to start your day and the shower doesn't work, that's scrapping the bottom of the barrel. Other people checking out didn't have cable in thier rooms also.
