I had something to collect in Anderstorp and instead of making the long drive up and then back down in the same day, I decided to take the family and make it a little mini-getaway. Hotell Nissastigen clearly seemed the best choice in the area, and it turned out on the whole to be a very good choice. The first thing I appreciated was the receptionist ringing me on the day of arrival and letting me know that Gislaved were having their 50 year kommun jubilee, and that it could be a little bit noisy. This was no problem for us, but it was nice to been forewarned about it. As the hotel was so central, the carpark was full when we arrived, but after a while managed to find a spot after a bit of faffing around. Unfortunately the charging stations in the carpark were not working, but this was no fault of the hotel. I also appreciated that the back entrance required a code to enter so despite the large crowds of people due to the festival, there was still some access control. Unfortunately the hotels normal restaurant was closed due to the 50år celebration, but they had an outdoor serving with food that was decent but expensive, especially the drinks where a beer cost 75kr .. the same beer I bought the next day at Systemet for 10kr. The room itself was fine albeit quite small. The corridors were dated, but the room had has renovation at some point. There was an "extra" bed under the main bed and extra pillows spread throughout the various cupboards. The bathroom, while nicely re-tiled and modern was small, and the glass doors of the shower made one feel claustrophobic. Sleep quality was so-so. Our room backed onto the carpark, and there were a group of "youths" being loud and obnoxious right outside the window. Not sure if this was just because of the festival. Some reviewers have complained about the hotel breakfast being basic - but we found the breakfast to be superb with decent selection, a blueberry pie to die for and friendly staff. On the topic of the staff, everyone we encountered were friendly and helpful. Special mention goes to the receptionist who (I'm very sorry! ) have forgotten the name, but she was fantastic. Should I ever need to visit the area again, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend it warmly.
