White Springs Manor a Belhurst Property

The White Springs Manor property is a part of the Belhurst Castle resort and they are marketed together on the BC website. It is NOTHING like the accommodations at the Castle. It is about 2 miles from the lake in a wooded area. The rooms are old and poor; another couple in our group found a dead bat in their bathroom. Then, after changing rooms, their toilet backed up. In fairness, after complaining, the BC folks moved us the the main building to much better rooms at a reduced rate. But the resort should stop marketing this space with the Castle until they upgrade the accommodations.

Horrible place. On entering the building there was a trash can that obviously had not been emptied since at least the day before, overflowing with pizza boxes. Entering the foyer the carpet had not been vacuumed for some time. Find out you have to drive 3 miles to Belhurst to check in. Did that, got to room and very warm, about 80° with AC running. Figured maybe someone had just turned it on so went to our concert. Arrived back 10 pm, still 80°, TV doesn't work. Tried to call Belhurst, end up on an endless loop of choose 0. This is without a doubt THE WORST hotel I have ever booked at. We left and checked into a Days Inn, which was 100% better.

This is my 5:45 a.m. to 6:30 a.m. review of the Playhouse behind White Springs Manor (I should be sleeping). OVERALL VERDICT: DO NOT STAY HERE SHORT VERSION First impression on the Internet:Wow! First impression on arrival: adorable 😍 First impression after walking in: uhhh, hmmm, cute? Wait... What is that? Impression after 3 a.m. I don't want to be here. LONG VERSION PROS -5 minute drive from mostly everything. -Cabin location is amazing. -Bathroom is beautiful.. -Cute fridge with freezer. -TVs in the rooms and main area. -Set back in a well maintained grass area on a hill. -Charming, kind of (read on...) CONS - You will feel like you are going to be INVADED -Spotted a mouse in the front area floor HVAC vent by the door 4:45 a m. -4:30 a.m. to dawn: SQUIRRELS IN THE ROOF. Not on it, IN IT. -CRITTERS running throughout the foundation, and partially down the inner wall of the first bedroom. -6:15 Critter chewing on the outter wall in the first bedroom near the porch . -Halfway crevices are dirty. -Musty smell (Expected if this was a state park a cabin, BUT NOT FOR$200/night at a premiere location). I had to secure the place before we left for the evening (that's the Marine in me): many of the windows were unlocked, broken latches and most were drywall screwed shut. In summary: If you are a light sleeper: Don't stay here This place would freak out the timid. Expectations are high because of the history, location and presentation, but the servere out dated carpet, terrible windows, and the mostly concerning NUMEROUS animals running throughout makes it difficult to want to come back.

Meh - funky and a little musty and dark - my first impression of the "lobby". It's an old small mansion with nothing more than an ice machine and a vending machine for amenities - with the exception of a jacuzzi next to the bed. No hotel personnel at all in this building. A little creepy, especially when a bat flew through the lobby on our first of two nights. Bed good, clean room although lobby and stairs, hallway needed a good vacuuming. Beautiful, private grounds with great views of Seneca Lake. Unique place but not a great value for the money.

We stayed at the Playhouse on the White Springs Manor property. All I wanted to play was hide and seek only I never wanted anyone to find me and make me go back there. As soon as you open the front door the smell of musty stale air slaps the life out of you. You ignore it for a moment because you begin to ponder why there is an elevated tub in the living room. They kindly leave every light in the house on and the TV on in the bedroom to make you feel "safe" but instead you have reverse psychology and think that someone is hiding in the closet. No fear though....all the windows are screwed shut so you couldn't get out if you tried (not sure how that isn't a fire safety hazard) I believe this is all a ploy to make you forget that this property hasn't been updated since 1973. However, there is a nice touch of whatever is stuck in the ceiling waking you up by running around in the morning. You don't even need an alarm clock for the 4:30 wake up. The Belhurst might think they can call this old school charm but the must is an old school bust. Spend some money Belhurst and replace some carpets and update the rooms. Side note...looks cute from the outside.
