Wir hatten einen Stopover-Aufenthalt in Funchal von Porto Santo, weil easyJet unseren Flug gecancelt hatte (diese Airline operiert aktuell leider sehr, sehr unzuverlässig.) Und gerade auch für so ein Stop-over ist das Vila Gale sehr gut geeignet, mit dem Taxi 5 Minuten und 10 EUR vom Airport entfernt. Der Check-in verlief ein wenig zäh. Das Half Board Dinner war gut, die Zutaten hochwertig. Aber auch hier dauerte es lang, bis der Service zu uns kam und unsere Getränkewünsche aufnahm. Die Weinpreise sind sehr fair. Wir haben sehr gut geschlafen, trotz Flughafennähe, alles sehr ruhig. Einzig das Bett war kein echtes Doppelbett, sondern zwei Einzelbetten mit Ritze dazwischen, zum Kuscheln somit leider ungeeignet. Schön war, dass das Hotel noch ein kleines Frühstück ”On the Go” für Frühstücks-Gäste anbietet, so hat man trotz einem Red Eye Flight etwas im Magen, denn leider hat die Lounge im Airport noch geschlossen, angeblich wegen Covid, aber wohl eher wegen Sparmassnahmen.
