This is a tough review because the staff was nice however, they were all teenagers/college kids with no training whatsoever which is not their fault. How this hotel received 5 stars is mind boggling. I think here in Ireland they must have different ratings compared to the rest of the word. If you're use to mainland Europe or USA 5 starred hotel you will be highly disappointed. Our room was outdated with major scuff marks and stains, non working lights and a 1980's tea kettle. I will say the linens were clean along with the toilet/shower area. No coffee machine, no USB ports, tiny generic TV. We went to the "spa". No changing rooms so you better change in your room and walk past everyone in the halls in your robe. The "thermal" spa was tepid with limescale all over everything. None of the jets, supposed scented rainforest shower or other attachments worked. If it wasn't so laughable and myself just being "done" with the place I would have complained to the manager. That's if you could find a manager. If you're there midweek, you physically have to stalk and find a server to ask for a drink. Dessert was a horrid creation tasting like someone poured perfume over it. Breakfast was fine, you'll be waiting for your 2nd cappuccino though. Again, improperly trained staff. I was a waiter at their age so I "get it." Do not bother paying for this hotel. I've stayed many times in Galway and I can easily vouch for the local 4 star hotels being better than the G Hotel. Don't let my mistake be your mistake, go elsewhere.

Booked this 5 star hotel as part of our honeymoon trip without too much thought. ( 330 for a lake view room). When we drove up to the hotel and realised it was in an industrial park looking out onto a pub car park and busy road with lake off to the side, I was sorely disappointed. We received a cold reception and no chance of early check in, 20 minutes walk from town. Shower was spitting out everywhere. No pool so had to pay 30 euro for access to spa which was dark and dirty with thermal beds not working. The hotel has obviously had a make over to look appealing but doesn’t have what’s needed to be 5 star by any stretch.

Fantastic property with great location and amenities! My wife and I really enjoyed our stay for 3 nights. The bed and bedding were luxurious and the shower was completely decadent. Great breakfast selection, and very modern feel to the hotel lobby and hallways.

Our lake view room was beautiful, and the service was exceptional. Concierge gave us great recommendations for dinner and attractions. We aren’t used to this level of service, but it was very much appreciated. The entire hotel is gorgeous. The only bad thing I can say is that we couldn’t stay longer!

Our visit was quite simply amazing From the warm welcome from Hazel to the wonderful Thermal spa to our fabulous meal in the Geo Restaurant ( huge compliments to the chef) and to Jack who looked after us so superbly Take a bow G, can’t wait to visit again.

Booked this hotel s part of my road trip around Ireland. Initially I was very, very impressed. Foyer, reception were absolutely immaculate and well decorated and the staff were really, really helpful, polite and friendly. Cannot fault the staff here. Went to the bar for a drink before check in - again, staff were lovely and attentive. Went up to room (was told I had an upgrade). Hmm. The room I was in is starting to like a little bit tired now. About 10 years ago it probably would have been stunning but it is starting to look it's age a little bit. Don't get me wrong, very clean and spacious but is just lacking that wow factor that you get driving up to the hotel and in reception. Good facilities in the room - plenty of teas, coffees, toiletries, free drinking water, several clean, fluffy towels, iron, dressing gown, slippers - all the usual that you would expect! No problems here either. Free parking at the back and relatively close to town centre - takes about 15-20 min walk with some lovely scenery along the way. Was going to use the spa but was busy with other things - it looked lovely from the outside though. I guess it's just the room didn't meet the initial wow factor I had when arriving. Probably time to tart it up a bit but no doubt there are other, more expensive rooms that may be a little more luxurious and updated. I paid around £160 for mine. Smallish gripes, but just failed to deliver what it gives you on first impression / website.
