For most staying in Gainsville, it is because you are visiting a student attending UF. We have been doing this for several years, but this was the first time we had an opportunity to stay at the AC. It is one of the most expensive options, however we decided to treat ourselves this time. We had excellent interactions with the Valet staff and the lobby is beautiful and the location can't be beat. However, we encountered an extremely rude front desk person, she said her name was Sam, who needs some serious training in hospitality. We had to converse with her a few times during our check-in and found her to be one of the unfriendliest Marriott employees we have had the displeasure of interacting with. Additionally, there are several housekeeping issues, and it is not what you would expect from a $300+ a night hotel. A bright spot was James in the breakfast area. He was very pleasant and friendly and an excellent addition to the AC. I hope upper management sees this review and takes a look at who they have as the face of their hotel checking in their guests. Friendliness and positive customer service goes a long way!
