Love this. Kind of hotel. The breakfast is fantastic

Booked a family room for my two elder brothers and myself. Stayed three nights. Food and hospitality throughout was very good. Excellent location for exploring the Borders. Nearby steam train to Etal is a great day out. Nearby Flodden Field battlefield site is excellently curated by volunteers.

Well, we were the lucky ones! Doing the Nland250, it was a needle on a haystack - but wow, we hit the jackpot here! Such fantastic hosts - polite and very friendly. Rooms were superb and comfortable. Food was good - breakfast amazing. Thank you all - we had a great stay and will definitely call again

A real find. We were flying into Newcastle airport and had to drive to the north east of Scotland so decided to have a stopover. From arrival we were made welcome by both the barmaid and the locals. Our family room was comfortable and cosy, had everything we needed. Booked a table for evening, food was good quality and tasty. Had a good night’s sleep and a great breakfast in the morning! All in all a lovely end to our holiday and we will definitely book in again if we are to be in the area! Keep doing what you’re doing!

How about “Be Considerate To The Customer “. We could not believe the appalling and rude attitude of a staff member. We booked a table and arrived at the designated time. Before we had even sat down, we were asked what we wanted to drink and this was brought to our table. The waitress said that she would give us a short time to look at the menu and would then take our order. 25 minutes later our order had still not been taken but the waitress was clearing the tables near us. Eventually we asked if she was going to take our order and she obviously went to get someone. A man came and asked if he could take our order and when we expressed our disappointment at having to wait so long, he told us in a very condescending manner that the kitchen was busy and that perhaps we would go elsewhere. We ordered a Sunday Roast, which would have already been cooked and it still took ages to appear. Another table of four came in some while after us and their order was taken quickly and the food came within a very short time. We felt we were treated as if we had done something wrong. We had intended to book for another evening as we are staying close by but we certainly will not be returning in a hurry.

I have stayed here twice in the last month on business and both times have been some of the most pleasant times I've had staying at an inn. The rooms are very cozy and have a homely feel to them, the showers are fantastic. The restaurant serves excellent pub food and is served by very helpful and friendly staff. The breakfast is to die for and one of the best fry ups I've had. I will be returning here whenever I get the chance. Highly recommend!

Horrific experience, came here with my family for food, barmaid told us no tables for an hour, as I was explaining to my 3 year old son why we had to go find somewhere else a male member of staff stepped in told us we could have a table, sat in a conservatory area with plenty of spare tables, bar maid must not of liked the Newcastle accent or the look of us which I would say she shouldn’t be working in hospitality if she is turning customers away for the sake of it! Food was basic pub food halloumi fries was the best part, cheeseburger was disgusting I wouldn’t feed it to a dog! To put the Cherry on the top of this experience a rude family found my family to be their topic of conversation calling us disgusting for my 3 year old sitting with an iPad and continued to talk about us for the whole time they were there, considering there was no music playing or tv noise we could hear every word said calling me disgusting for having a old moat cider with my meal, absolutely terrible behaviour infront of children, and If my children were not present I would have confronted the man but I am my children’s role model so I chose to behave in an appropriate manner ignore nasty comments. To make it even worse the bar maid who tried to turn us away then said to the rude family I’m sorry about the company you have!! my children behaved so well and we spoke among ourselves minding our business waiting for our food! I have never experienced anything like this in my life, the male member of staff who’s name I didn’t catch is the best part about this place! If your looking for a pleasant time and a nice meal avoid this Place.

We stayed here as it was only 30 mins to the Holy Island. The staff were very helpful & accommodating. The room was clean & modern & spacious for 3 adults. Food for eve & breakfast was exceptional, me & my daughter had haddock which tasted like it was just off the trawler. My wife had the pork, which again was presented well & polished off. Breakfast was very tasty, with no room for anything else on plate. Yum.

Yes the room is small, but in my opinion, the perfect room for a solo traveller. Very well designed and very comfortable. Great hosts, very friendly. All the food was excellent. I had breakfast and evening meals during my stay and would definitely recommend it. Would stay here again.
