River House Inn, a Baymont by Wyndham

We stayed at the River House Inn in Florence for one night during our trip around Northern California and Oregon. We found the accommodation comfortable. It’s located just off the 101 on the southern edge of Florence next to the Suislaw River. There are several restaurants and shops within walking distance. A small breakfast was provided.

What a joke! I booked our room and was supposed to be River Front with balcony. Somehow that apparently didn’t happen when I made the reservation. Then the desk clerk informs me our room which I paid a lot for and was not river front would have been $40 less of if I booked directly with them instead of Wyndham. Never heard of such a thing. Then we get to our room and find out this hotel has no air-conditioning. Perhaps it should state that in their website. So we try to open our window and the latch is broken so the desk clerk has to bring a screw driver to open it. The room was clean though so i guess that is a good thing!!!

The room was very dirty when we checked in and I had to wipe all the surfaces as you can see in the enclosed photo I had to wipe the headboard and other surfaces 10 to 15 times and the paper still came away black. You do not get room service if you stay more than one night. Breakfast really was not much of a breakfast.

We were looking for relaxing stay on the Southern Oregon coast for just the two of us and found a charming place that was just right for our needs. The room's view of the river was amazing, our king bed was facing the water and we watched the moon rise one morning. Property/room was very clean, staff accommodating, and breakfast in the "breakfast room" was great (pancakes made with the push of a button!) Bonus: this property is easy walking distance to downtown/old town where the shops / restaurants / galleries and riverfront are located.

I've stayed here quite a few times and have always had a great time. The river view is wonderful. Sitting on the balcony relaxing is just the best. The hotel is walking distance to everything in Old Town Florence. Lots of great restaurants, bars and shopping. If we're in town on a Tuesday during the summer we always walk to the Farmers Market. This year we found the best Hummus, pita chips, dolmas and salads at the market. Made an outstanding dinner out on our balcony. Best place to stay in Florence.

Very clean room, wonderful staff, safe location. Rated a 3 out of 5 due to comfort. The mattresses are so firm we woke up with sore backs. No Air Conditioning - we had difficulty cooling our upstairs room down, so couldn’t sleep. Good breakfast though, nice bathroom.

The River House Inn is a nice option if you’re staying in Florence. The rooms are nice and the location next to the historic area is great. Checkin / out: Checking in and out was quick, efficient, and easy! Parking: There’s ample parking just outside of the rooms. Cleanliness: The room was very clean, but it definitely had a musty smell. You get used to it after a while, but it wasn’t really pleasant. Bed: The bed, pillows, and blankets were all wonderful! Nearby: Probably the best thing about the River House is it’s proximity to the charming old part of Florence. There are tons of shops, restaurants, a nice bakery, and so on. Wonderful!

Rooms are fine and looking over the river is great fun but the noise from vehicles crossing the bridge is non-stop, even into the late evening. The bridge apparently has a grating which generates a loud growling noise. The rooms over the river are subjected to this noise which is disturbing even with the sliding glass door closed and the drapes drawn. Otherwise, the motel is conveniently located in Old Town, room and parking were acceptable.

Our stay was most pleasant considering we stayed while were waiting for our home remodel. Loved everyone at the place and it was always clean and smelled nice. Every room is unique and just lovely to be in.
