This was the first stop on our week long tour of southern Corsica. We chose it becuse of its proximity to Figari airport. The views from the terrace were some of the best of our trip. When we arrived the place seemed deserted but a quick phone call brought the owner Stephane, who lives about 50 yards away. Stephane was friendly and helpful. Our room in an old village house had been tastefully updated to include a large walk-in shower. Breakfast featured local preserves, delicious fresh bread and a cake made with chestnut flour, a Corsican speciality. San Gavinu is a small village with no places to eat, but Stephane recommended a restaurant in a nearby village. I think he may provide dinner if you book in advance. L'Orca di San Gavinu would be a good base for day trips to Bonifacio and Porto Vecchio and even further afield to the lovely beach at Baie de Rondinara. Thoroughly recommended and we would definitely return.
