Falcon Hotel

Not a great first impression as the car park looks like a demolition site. Upon arriving it seemed like a lovely quiet pub witn a rustic and vintage characteristics... we were wrong. At first they said we had booked 2 rooms instead of 1, which was quickly resolved. We got given our room key and headed upstairs to relax after an 8 hour journey from down south. As we went up stairs there was a damp and musty smell, the floor in the corridor wasn't level at all and the carpet filthy. We opened the door into our room and instantly were gobsmacked by the state of it.. tiny double bed for 2 adults, dust and cobwebs on every surface and in every corner, a tiny bathroom that when I was on the toilet I couldn't shut the door as I didn't fit, the shower was covered in limescale, there was hair all over the bathroom floor, more cobwebs and some mould in the shower. We had all the tea and coffee facilities except one thing... we had no cups. The tv was smaller than my phone screen, also covered in dust. Despite all this we put up with it as we were literally using it as a base camp for 2 days. On our last day, as we were leaving all the other room doors were open and we'd realise we had the smallest and most claustrophobic room. This really upset us, we regularly visit the area to see family and was planning to stay here more often but I'll stick with the premier inn in Peterborough and driving over to see them. We waited in reception for HALF AN HOUR to check out and there was no sign of 1 single person, we had to be somewhere so we chucked the key on the desk and left. Place is in DESPERATE need of a refurb or shutting down. Wouldn't even give it 1 star if I could.

Stayed one night whilst attending a training course based at this hotel and I was appaled at the state of this place! No hotwater! Shower didn't work properly and radiator on full blast In hot weather but no way of turning it off! Room very run down and less than basic. Seriously NO HOTWATER!!! Training room was also run down and dirty. Car park is a joke as its full of abandoned vehicles so not very good first impressions. Avoid this place and book elsewhere! Needs a massive refurbishment or closing down.

Carvery was AMAZING and the place was loverly and clean only reason 2 stars was even though it was a loverly place I won't be retuning any time soon due to how the older lady that works their speaks to customers and staff with such rudeness and disrespect the dirty looks she gives me peoples and the attitude on her!!

Probably the worst carvery iv ever had. As a comparison a toby carvery or brewers fayre is a much higher standard. The meats were dry, pork crackling was like leather. Prawn cocktail was off. Didn’t even entertain the deserts. Wont be returning.

Avoid at all cost. I stayed at the hotel due to doing a 2 day course that was being held there. The Room I stayed in was absolutely filthy. Cobwebs and dust everywhere. It smellt of stale cigarette smoke and damp. I found a cigarette butt in the bathroom sink and there was also one on the carpet. The shower had grime and hair stuck to it from previous guests. See my added pictures. The toilet had dried up urine stains on the back. Also a pot of dipping source was lodge between the cupboard and table. Mould stains on the ceiling, Also a Board put up in front of one of the wall which could be to hide more mould. The bedroom had clearly not been cleaned properly. The whole hotel was falling to bits. Needs a serious revamp. Avoid staying here at all costs.

Had our wedding reception there and the staff did a fantastic job. Nothing was too much trouble and Colin and his girls did a fantastic job. Great value for money, wonderful atmosphere and a thoroughly amazing time had by all

All quite good considering the prices. Just had a light lunch and drinks In good location centre of town. As a destination, Probably not for dinner. We had ham egg chips which was nicely cooked……..

We were recommended the Falcon for good food, we were the only people in the pub. My partner had ham, egg and chips, his only criticism not enough chips for the money. I had squash and beetroot wellington, on the menu it said new potatoes and broccoli. It came with hard frozen peas and mash. Pastry base was a bit hard in places but filling was tasty, I’m not really a fan of mash, it was a funny yellow colour not white and fluffy, for me it would have been better if there was cheese in it. I have no idea why I didn’t get new potatoes and broccoli. I should have said something, but I was too stressed out 😰 and remained polite. I wouldn’t go back and wouldn’t recommend the food 😕

The Hotel is in need of repair and decoration. Nice old building but really requires work to be able to offer required standard to customers Some stuff is easy to fix, like holes in the bath unit and dirty walls etc Could be a nice place, Heard food ok but did not try
