Brewhalla Hotel

WOW! We stumbled upon this gem when we were in Fargo for the day visiting the Drekker Brewery. When we discovered the hotel attached to the brewery, we decided to check it out. SOO COOOL＞ different and unique. We liked it so much, we stayed two nights. After spending a day troll hunting in Detroit Lakes, we came back for the second night. The Market is perfect for funky shopping and delicious food. We had the pizza...so good. I wish we had gotten the names of the hotel staff/bar staff that were so helpful and friendly. We loved the "industrial motif" and the beds were SOOOOO comfy. Slept thru the night. Loved the amenities and how quiet it was. If we are ever in Fargo again (we live in FL) - we will stay again. Wish they had more of them throughout out travels. Great place!

This is a hotel in the Brewhalla complex with a few shops, fast food, the Drekker Brewery and related grounds. The Good: The hotel portion is on the upper floors. It is a pseudoindustrial/punk vibe. Each room has a loose decoration mural related to one of their brews. The rooms are like suites, clean, comfortable, and spacious. Each has a balcony. You check in at the bar. The staff was friendly, helpful, and attentive. It is quiet there at night. The brewery/shops shut down in the evening. It is in an industrial area of town but appears very safe. It is a unique experience. With the shops and the brewery there, there is not a need to have to leave. Great for beer lovers; but Dekker makes a number of other combined almost dessert brews. The other shops have coffee, wine, soft drinks, and a wide variety of foods. They do have underground parking which is a plus (but at an added fee). Hanging out at the Brewery is great. The not so good: We enjoyed our stay there very much. If you are going to downtown, NDSU, the medical centers, or other areas you will need to drive. Nothing is very far in Fargo though. The coffee shop downstairs supplies coffee to the hotel guests in a central location on the 3rd floor. We stayed there a few nights, and the coffee was not very good on any day. In room ability to make your own coffee would be nice. There is no on-site staff at night. There are numbers to call if you have an emergent need. Definitely worth a stay.

I *loved* this place, but I could see it not being for everyone. But, I am not your typical 74 year old. This is a hotel built with an event center and a marketplace, connected with a local brewery. Each room is inspired by one of their craft beers. Mine was Cuddle Puppy. Definitely not puppies! The designs on the wall behind the bed are reminiscent of graffiti artwork. (See the pictures.) The rooms are on the third and fourth floors, and are accessible with a code that works for the elevator and as your room key also. The whole place is essentially a big concrete warehouse modified in a funky way. Even the room floors, walls, and ceiling are all polished concrete. Ironically, I don't even drink. Don't like the taste of alcohol, but I still loved this place. If you call for reservations, they suggest going online to book. But, you can talk with a live person if need be. Check in is at the bar straight in from the door, but if I understood things right, you can also just use a code you get on your phone or computer, or other device, and go straight to your room. I am more "old school." I like person to person contact, but it seems that it is not necessary. The staff were great. Everyone was more than willing to help me and make me feel welcome. The shops were a variety of things. One was a souvenir shop, another an oyster bar. Two floors of variety. There were also two rows of pinball machines, one in the brewery, one on the second floor. I am a pinball aficionado, so I was having a great time. As for the room itself, it was clean, comfortable, and large. It was quiet, but a caveat here. I was on the train track side, and outside my spacious balcony, I could watch trains go by below me. You can also hear them, but they aren't annoyingly loud. I like trains, so they didn't bother me one bit, and there don't seem to be any "middle of the night" ones, at least none *I* heard. If trains bother you, request a street side room. I really don't have anything bad to say about this place. I would stay here again if I was ever in Fargo again.

Like others have said, the entire facility experience is well done. Access to event venue, food & beverage on site, and hotel rooms is a home run. I would say F&B pricing is on the high side but pretty decent quality. If you want a drink and don't do beer you are out of luck unless you bring your own and only imbibe in your room (not allowed out in the rest of the property). Unfortunately, the wonderful public side is severely undercut by the hotel rooms. The room has all the personality of a prison cell, complete with bare concrete floors and unfinished ceilings. We went to bed before a wedding event had wrapped up and were treated to all the happy loud booming thumping music we could want when trying to sleep. Then we have the trains on the very active rail system within 100 feet of our window. I counted 5 trains passing during the night. While Fargo has a no whistle zone near downtown, the trains literally shake the building, roar from the engines, and clack from the cars, all very loudly. I grew up 4 blocks from a rail switchyard and consider those sounds quaint and soothing. This was beyond acceptable next to a hotel. I realize the hotel can't control the train frequency, but the owners COULD control placement of rooms that are affected this much by internal event noise and outside trains. Between the cold ambiance, noise, and lack of staff (the hotel is online-only with no "front desk"), I wouldn't stay again unless we had to for an event.
