Vila Gale Estoril - Adults Friendly

This is not exactly a cheap hotel, so I did expect better for the price. The room decor looks like something from Wayne Newton era Las Vegas, but worse is the condition: the beds are too firm, with cheap-feeling spring mattresses; the shower wall was not big enough to prevent water from getting all over the bathroom, and it had a leaky seal making an even bigger puddle; the walls have chipped paint and the ceiling has shoddy repairs done. Outside of the room, the public areas are better... the breakfast is good, and pool is nice, but quite cold, and for some reason the employees keot leaving the bar/cafe area unattended, so it was hard to actually place an order for anything. The main reasons we booked this were to have close access to the beach and train station, and it served those purposes well. We also appreciated that it was adults only, with no kids running around and making noise! That made the pool a much more enjoyable experience. But for the price ($200/night), we really expected the room to be better

We have just returned from Vila Gale Estoril. Lovely hotel with great staff. However, on our first night in the restaurant I requested to sit where it was not too busy. The lovely lady at desk obliged....but her colleague arrived and abruptly insisted we " must sit with our group" despite me explaining that my husband has dementia. This was not a good start and was upsetting to us both. Thankfully, all the other staff were very polite and pleasant. The swimming pool on the 2nd floor could only be accessed by a winding staircase from the 1st floor. There were 2 flights of stairs to climb. The handrail was very shaky so we were too nervous to use it. Location was great but not much in Estoril. The lovely promenade along the coast brought you to Cascais which was beautiful. We stayed in sister hotel Vila Gale, Albufeira last year and the food was far superior to Estoril. All in all a bit deflated and would not recommend.

Hotel very clean, comfy beds and bed pillows. Staff very helpful and pleasant. Breakfast buffet has some good choices. I stayed at the Vila Gale in Cascais last November so did find a couple of things lacking here. The only mirror we had was in the bathroom so with two of us found that inconvenient. At the hotel in Cascais had a full length mirror in our room. Also spoke to some other guests and they commented on not having a mirror in their room Also missed having a tea kettle and tea & coffee supplied in our room. However good things here. Nice pool area. Very convenient having restaurants close by, as well as the train station across the road and also the beach and the walk along the sea all the way to Cascais.

We stayed here for a week in early May. While the lifts are small they can accommodate 4 people or two with luggage. There is access from the second floor by stairs, but it is not obvious - try going up the stairs from the reception area. The buffet for breakfast and lunch was very good, though sometimes with a crowd it took a while to replenish dishes. The omelettes made to order were great at breakfast. The staff were very helpful and helped us making the right choice of wine for value as we had no idea of the price charged when asking for a glass of wine and a bottle of water. This may have been with new staff at the beginning of the season. The rooms were very clean, ours on the second floor while having a floor length window which opened inwards just had a railing and no balcony, overlooking a small courtyard , while facing seawards, no view of the sea. The bathroom had fitted shower gel and no shampoo. There was no extra charge for use of the safe in the room. There is a rooftop pool with loungers accessed from the reception area or via the emergency stairs with planters. The walks along the promenade across the road beyond the railway line from the hotel were very convenient and one could walk in either direction, although a short stretch was beside the road before getting to S. Pedro beach, several train stops up the line. The train to Lisbon took about 40 minutes and you paid 50c for the card and €5.25 return to Lisbon. There were not too many shops or restaurants nearby as this is a more residential area, but plenty in Cascais just 2 train stops down the coast. I would recommend this hotel as a good place to use as a base.

This is a quality hotel in a great location. Room are somewhat dated, but clean and nice, check in was easy, very professional and friendly staff. Location is great, walking distance to a whole bunch of restaurants, across the street from the train station to Lisbon or Cascais, and the beach. The hotel included a breakfast buffet each morning including custom eggs and omelettes if you so desired, all you could really ask for. Staff was great to deal with, just extremely helpful and would do anything for you. They were helpful with directions always and english was spoken. It seemed possibly that there are a lot of staff there from Brazil, but english wasn't an issue and they fall over themselves to be helpful. Great value for money. Parking was easy, turn right before the front desk as you go toward the beach. I can't think of a bad thing to say about this place. Thanks for giving my group a great stay in Estoril. This is the place to stay if visiting Lisbon. Prices are better, the train is literally a 30 second walk across the street, 5 euro return ticket and a 35 minute ride on a modern train into the heart of Lisbon. Can't ask for better. There is a ****** there but it was a huge disappointment (show your passport to get in the place, which was dead?). I don't recommend this ****** but it has nothing to do with how great the hotel was. I am committed to getting reviews done of these places because there are too many completely bogus reviews getting posted on here. This place will not disappoint.

pros and cons are location,swimming pool and gym,food quality at breakfast and dinner,staff atention,cleanliness and big comfortable room with sea view. free wi fi thoughout hotel and many english speaking tv channels Cons are two tiny lifts which stuggle to take more than two people each,low level of lighting in bed rooms,waterproof sheet on bed and lack of a handy man as we reported lack of a light bulb and non functioning hairdryer neither of which was addressed nor was the failure of the right hand lift to stop at the seventh floor on demand there was some reluctance to top up the evening buffet particulartly the french fries and main entree

We have stayed at this hotel numerous times over the past 15 years and wouldn’t consider any other in Estoril.The staff are very friendly and helpful with everything.The only improvement I would like is a non slip mat in the shower

Plus points: Good location close to the train station, decent sized room, maid service every day, helpful staff, aircon worked well. Minus points: Canteen-like dining area, food quality very average with little variety, no grab handle or non-slip bathmat in the (too high) shower. Strangely there was no direct access to the second floor via the stairs! Lifts very small.
