Not renovated. Not fresh. A dump. Carpet in room is damp. First room bed was broken. Floors feel sloped. Neighbor had no hot water. Not in line with the Marriot brand. Very disappointing and will never return here again and will let Marriot know what I think ASAP

The staff were friendly and helpful, but the hotel itself was less than acceptable. The main problem was that the only elevator in the hotel needed to be fixed several times during our one night stay. First of all there should have been at least one other elevator for a hotel that size. When we asked about using the “service elevator”, we were told there wasn’t one. We’re Marriott Bonvoy members and don’t understand why Marriott doesn’t have any standards for all the hotels in their Brands. I guess I need to contact Marriott about these issues. And this isn’t our first experience like this with a Marriott property.

I have lifetime Titanium Elite status with Marriott and I love the brand. This property, however, misses the mark in many ways. I have stayed at this hotel a few times. Each time I experienced some service issue, which was difficult to resolve. The issues themselves weren’t difficult, it was the lack of follow-up or sense of urgency. In addition, I encountered several rude associates. The people at the front desk seem to be very nice and friendly, but this doesn’t always translate to other people working in the hotel. My other concern which was never addressed, was the plain yogurt left out at room temperature every day for over a week. Each morning they put out plain yogurt at room temperature, and I noticed as the days went on, and the yogurt was depleted. It was never refreshed. Their breakfast period lasts for 3 1/2 hours yet the plain yogurt was reused each day. I noticed the diminishing amount each day and the curdling of the product. This should be addressed. Coffee, too, was very inconsistent. One morning the coffee was a tan color devoid of flavor. Other mornings, the coffee was bitter. Lastly, the mini quiche was offered every day without fail. This lack of variety gets old. I expect them to have scrambled eggs every day, but something should change on the hot side. 100% of the breakfast was the exact same day in and day out.

I have been staying at Marriott for nearly 20 years and I’m very fond of the brand. I’m also a lifetime titanium having racked up thousands of nights. I hope you find my review helpful. Cleanliness was very average. There was some construction going on which I didn’t mind. However, the hotel itself is not being kept as clean as it should. Breakfast was identical for three mornings in a row with zero changes. The plain yogurt was lumpy and left out at room temperature every morning. The shower was very confusing on how to turn it on, and I had to go to the Front Desk. I was clearly not the only person to have never seen a shower turned on this way as the hotel has a model of the shower itself to show guests how to turn it on. People at the front desk were very friendly. The housekeeping staff was also very friendly. However, the lady who manages the towels was very grumpy and rude. The refrigerator my room was not very cold. The telephone did not work, and despite the fact that I told them that nobody ever came to fix it.

The first impression was Ugh! The lobby was mostly closed due to construction. There was a line of people trying to check in at 10:30 pm and no staff could be found. After 20 minutes we arrived at our room. The room smelled of mold and was very damp. It was evident that the floor near the air conditioner was eroding and as my foot fell into a depression in the carpet I became aware that a board was placed over the eroding floor. Everything in the room was damp, moist and smelled of mildew. We left our shoes on at all times when walking around the room as the floor was damp. The bed itself was moist and left your skin feeling grimy, did not even want to sleep under the covers. So many things were broken or dirty throughout the hotel. This hotel does not live up to Marriott quality and is a disgrace to the brand name.

I’ve stayed at this Fairfield Inn on two occasion while visiting family during the Christmas holidays. In fairness, I gave this hotel a second chance after an unsatisfactory initial stay. Unfortunately, my unfavorable first impression was correct. On both occasions there was no soap, face tissues or lotions provided. A visit to the front desk revealed that hand soap was not in stock (waiting for delivery), and I was instructed to use the bath gel in the shower. I returned to the room to find the bath gel container was also empty. I made a second visit to the front desk, and the desk clerk returned with bath gel to replenish our canister, and also provided a roll of spare toilet paper that I requested. He couldn’t remove the top of our bath gel container, and frustratingly finally left an “industrial”sized gel container for our use! This establishment is an older property that has serious management and supply issues, that reflect poorly on the Marriott reputation. My advice - stay away!

I am sorry to say that my stay at the Fairfield was less than satisfactory and honestly upsetting. It was a long night but I will try to make this a short story. After 11 hours of driving, I checked in with the evening desk clerk about 6:00p.m. His demeanor was unfriendly and responded to my very few questions with inaudible grunts and one-word answers. I was immediately uncomfortable and sorry that I checked-in at all. I talked myself into staying because I was so tired and thinking it was "just one night".. I was initially checked into a room on the 2nd floor but after I found the TV not working I was moved to another room on the 2nd floor. About 2:00AM in the morning, the door to my room banged partially open. The only reason the people trying to enter the room could not access was because I had engaged the secondary/safety lock which prevented the door from fully opening.. I jumped out of bed and quickly closed the door while announcing the room was already occupied. I believe they were as shocked as I was during this encounter. Needless to say, I did not sleep for the rest of the night. When I checked-out the next morning, the same unfriendly desk clerk was there. When I mentioned that another party had been given a key card to my already occupied room - he had very little to say. No apologies - nothing. As a Marriot Bonvoy member, I try to stay within their umbrella of hotels, Not anymore. From the moment I checked-in until I checked-out, it was a very bad experience. From the old dingy hotel room - to the TV to working - to the Ice maker not working - to the running in the 3rd floor hallway above - to going to the front desk to ask for ice and being sent to the creepy 3rd floor by the unfriendly desk clerk. All of it - Awful. I am posting this review a month after my stay because I was giving the Front Desk Manager and General Manager of the Fairfield Inn in Emporia a chance to respond to my E-Mail which I sent shortly after my stay. I have not heard from either. Not sure why but it sends another negative message about the Fairfield. I will not stay at another Fairfield Inn and do not recommend.

We will likely return to this location. We enjoyed the complimentary breakfast, room was good, but we had an issue to get the TV to work. We spoke to the desk clerk and he didn’t have remote control batteries and told us to use the TV control buttons on the side. We must have flustered him because he seemed to have an attitude. We checked again and another hotel associate try to help with limited success, but later we were not able to keep it working. Otherwise, we give this. 4 out of 5 rating.

I stayed here last year and it was great. This year not so much. The experience was horrible. At check in, we were told the elevator was broken so they gave us a room on the first floor. Hallway carpets were nasty and stained. We opened our room and there was this unbearable smell. Smelt like cat pee covered up by cologne. My wife and kids were nauseous from the smell. We asked to change rooms which they did for us but both women at the front weren’t the friendliest. We found hair on the bathroom floor and tub. On top of that the 1st floor ice machine was broken and hot tub was hasn’t been working for the longest time now. What a difference from last year. This hotel needs to do something because I wasn’t the only customer upset. Things need to change
