Garten Hotel

We had a fabulous day at Garten Hotel. The views were amazing. Rene was excellent and made our day very special. He was super friendly and very responsive. His service made our day very special. I will tell all my friends to come here. It was a wonderful day!

I never really take the time to write a review but it was a MUST that I do so for the Garten Hotel. —— I must say, it was absolutely, AMAZING. Not only was the property well maintained, the accommodations were A++. Anytime we needed ANYthing they were extremely prompt with responding. The friendly service from the staff was impeccable. The free breakfasts in the morning were delicious (avocado toast, Salvadorian dishes, etc.). They truly made our stay in El Zonte such a treat! Thank you Garten Hotel for everything. We will definitely be returning again. El Salvador is a beautiful region of the world. If you want to fuel the body, mind and soul we recommend the Garten Hotel in El Zonte to be a part of your El Salvador experience.

If you're looking for an epic location in El Salvador, this hotel delivers in spades. Perched on a stunning ocean bluff with breathtaking views and direct beach access, it's the perfect spot for relaxation or adventure. The pool is simply beautiful—sparkling clean and surrounded by lush landscaping that adds to the serene vibe. The staff here are incredible, going above and beyond with warm smiles and helpful service. And the food? Divine. The breakfast and lunch menus are nothing short of a treat, with fresh, flavorful dishes that we’re still dreaming about. The security at the property is top-notch yet unobtrusive, making us feel completely at ease throughout our stay. And the beds? Absolute heaven. Plush, inviting, and honestly the best we've ever experienced—getting out of bed each morning was a challenge! Now for the quirks: while we loved nearly everything about this sanctuary, there were a couple of things to note. The plumbing system requires you to dispose of ALL toilet paper in a small garbage can, which might not be ideal for everyone. Also, the local roosters are early risers, and their 5 a.m. wake-up call is hard to miss. That said, the hotel can’t control nature, and it’s part of the authentic charm of the area. Despite these minor inconveniences, this hotel is a true sanctuary that captures the beauty of El Salvador. We’d return in a heartbeat and recommend it to anyone who can embrace the local quirks!

Beautiful place, friendly helpful staff, we had a wonderful time. They handled transportation to and from the airport, helped us book great excursions, took care of getting our son medication when he was dealing with stomach upset. It was great! They could definitely use more chairs by the pool and/or down on the beach as the pool area can get quite crowded if guests from the other property come over. A bit of lighting near the doors of each room would provide a little comfort as well. But all in all, I'd definitely recommend staying here.

I visited the hotel yesterday and the experience was such a letdown. The hotel is very tiny not like the pictures make it seem, the staff if completely disorganized, I had booked a room the morning of the day I was checking in but they did not have my reservation and I was not on the list to enter the property. When I checked in to the hotel the larger sized man was completely unprofessional and behaved in a very unpleasant way. He treated us as a bother and did not explain the amenities of the hotel, when escorting us to the room no one bothered to assist my pregnant wife with her bags, no explaining on room features, broken ac, and I was not given a room key. The guy who escorted us to the room said he would bring the key, more than 20 mins passed and no key I went to pick it up and when I went to try the key it was the wrong one. I went to the office again and explained I was given the wrong key and just given a look of contempt and no offer of apology or explanation just looking for the key and given to me in a hurry. At this point I complained to the manager who happened to be there and she was courteous and apologized for that persons behavior. She offered my wife and I a complementary drink and tried to appease the situation. I really think the 5 star service is not there and a lot of customer service training is needed. There are other nearby hotels with far better service and similar amenities and attributes. Hopefully the could change this. Also they need more pool chairs they only had 3 when we were there which is not enough at all.

Garten is my favorite hotel in El Salvador, the views, the beach, the food and drinks! They help with everything and make sure you’re having the best time truly a gem. Love having Pina coladas in the pool, or catching the sunset at the stunning beach with black sand below.
