Aloft El Paso Downtown

Everything was excellent. The building itself is a gem.

This a very good option to stay at El Paso, located in the downtown of the city. From its location , you cas drive either west or east to reach any of the city’s PoI. Rooms are small but the bathroom is well designed and spacious (just be careful as the shower floor tiles are very slippery. They offer valet parking service, but it is expensive and not very good. On the brightside, the downtown area is in its revival, so you can enjoy a lot of options for dinner and entertainment within walking distance (Cafe Central is a Jewel).

This hotel is within the old art deco O. T. Bassett Tower in Downtown El Paso. It is clean, comfy and functional however I would describe it primarily as functional. No breakfast included and options that are offered seem to be expensive and limited. There is a fitness room and guest laundry. Staff are polite and helpful and the area surrounding the hotel is clean and seems safe, we walked quite happily to shops and restaurants although restaurant choices are limited. A huge TV in the room was great, the bathroom was large and well lit. The room itself was clean and comfy with a large desk to work from and the large windows allowed lots of light in to make it feel bright and welcoming. A slightly limited hotel in terms of facilities but a safe base of operations to explore Downtown El Paso.

My business partner arrived the day prior to my visit and had to be “walked” to a neighboring hotel because Aloft oversold. Although it was a nicer hotel than Aloft, sometimes sticking to the planned agenda is better. I checked in the following day and was upgraded to Presidential Suite. A very nice room with great views. The shower had poor pressure and almost stopped flowing on more than one occasion in my 5min journey. There is mold and mildew in the caulking in the shower and around the windows… this room needs a deep clean. Additionally in the shower, the tile on the floor is extremely slippery and an anti-slip pad should be provided before someone gets injured and the hotel sued. Lastly, I was charged for parking when I did not have a vehicle… I was not asked at checkin, which is an annoyance when leaving as I must stop and wait in line to rectify my bill before leaving g for my business meeting… putting me at risk of being tardy. I hope this review serves Aloft El Paso downtown to strive for better experiences for its patrons.

This hotel plays loud music in their outside area. You can hear the disturbing music not only from this hotel but also from blocks away. It is very self-centered and arrogant. They think they are running a loud outdoor club instead of running a hotel business. You would wish you did not have your ears. Avoid at all cost.

This is a unique hotel downtown that was one of the only hotels offering the Fed Gov't lodging rate. Service was great but upon check out they changed the lodging/room rate. This causes major problems for people traveling on travel authorizations. Management claimed the room charge did not change but that added fees were included. Nightly rate is the nightly rate. So I will not/can not stay at this hotel again.

I love this old building and the amenities near by, which is why I stay here most of the time in ELPTX. Well after today, I will only stay at this ALOFT every time I return for business. The reason why you ask? I had a very stressful day of traveling west from Austin and as soon as I pulled in the Valet, Jesus, greeted me so politely I forgot about my travel woes. Then I proceeded to check-in and my grocery bag that contained a nice bottle of Cabernet broke and the bottle of wine exploded on the floor. Dejected and stressed again, I went to my room to unpack and called the Valet back to travel back to the grocery store, but as I was talking to Jesus about my wine incident, the lady from SALES, Lisa, walked by and said "I heard what happened and have this for you". Lisa then handed me a bottle of Cabernet, thus negating any reason to go back to the store and my stress levels completely vanished. I am a Platinum BonVoy member and feel like I live at Marriott properties so I know what to expect, but the amazing attitude and the willingness to proactively help my situation changed a bad travel day into an amazing day. HUGE KUDOS to Lisa in Sales and Jesus at the Valet stand. While I don't have her name handy, the lady that checked me in and saw my wine explode couldn't have been any nicer and better, she was great too!! Fantastic Property with amazing employees means that I will only stay here going forward :)
